Welcome to our homepage! We are Charles Walter Welch and Sharon Dee Sinsel Welch and are currently living in St. George, Utah. We will be happy to share any information in our files with you.
In Charles' line, we are researching, among others, WELCH, SANDIFER, MERRITT, FERRIS, HOLMES, and KINDER. I have accumulated quite an extensive data bank on the FERRIS, HOLMES, and KINDER lines thanks to computer technology and the LDS Ancestral Files. The FERRIS line is particularly interesting as it is full of "movers and shakers" of their eras.

The WELCH and SANDIFER ancestors have been a little more challenging to locate although they have their share of noteable people, too. Charles' father, Thomas Hezekiah Welch, through Joshua Sherwood & Darcus Ellen MERRITT WELCH is descended from John George & Celicia Elizabeth SANDIFER WELCH who migrated to Texas through Mississippi and Arkansas to settle in Edwards and Kerr counties in the mid 1800's. Theirs was a large family of thirteen children, many of whom are still located in Texas. Others migrated to Arizona, California, and Utah.

In Sharon's line, we are researching, among others, SINSEL, SØE, BLAIR, HOLLENBECK, ZIMMEK, POLICKY, JENSEN/WAGGERBY, and LIGHT. These families have been harder to trace as they did not leave many "footprints in the sand". It brings to mind a caption under a "Ziggy" cartoon saying, "It appears that you're descended from some very well-known nobodies!" Starting with the SINSEL line, Reinhart SINSEL immigrated to the United States from Prussia in 1857 and eventually settled in Minden, Nebraska. He married Catherine GUDA, also from Prussia, and they had six children.

Reinhart's son, Frank, married Marie SØE, who emigrated from Thisted County, Denmark in April of 1894. They had two sons and moved to Yakima, Washington, from Nebraska. I am particularly interested in hearing from anyone who has information about Marie SØE'S father, Niels Laustsen SØE, who emigrated to America in July of 1881. I am told he settled in Iowa.

Their son, Vern Lloyd SINSEL, Sr., married Myrtle Blanche BLAIR in 1924 and they had three children. Their son, Vern Lloyd SINSEL, Jr. married my mother, June Luree POLICKY, in 1947 in Sidney, Nebraska.

June's father, Vladislav POLICKY immigrated to the United States with his family from Czechoslovakia (Austria at that time) c1905. Vladislav married Mildred Edna Viola WAGGERBY in Nebraska.

Mildred's father, Laurits "Lars" JENSEN, immigrated from the Veggerby Parish, Aalborg County, Denmark, to the United States c1882. He and his brother, Soren, settled in Avoca, Iowa, for a couple of years where they changed their last name from JENSEN to WAGGERBY. Lars married Nancy Jane "Jennie" LIGHT who's father, James Light, came from Indiana. Lars and Jennie settled first in Lincoln and then in Morrill County, Nebraska, where they raised their eight children.

I look forward to hearing from you in order to share my family information!
