Notes for John LaRue:
1790 (1782 tax list) Virginia Heads of Households (p 27) lists John Larue, 6 whites, in Hampshire Co VA, list of David Mitchell, Gent. Also listed are Jacob Larue, 5 whites, and Peter Larue (John's brother), 9 whites. Apparently John's father Jacob died about 1784, not 1778, as he was still living in 1782.

Also listed in Hampshire Co VA in 1790 is William Jackson, 11 whites. Could this be Hannah Jackson's family?

In 1810 VA Hampshire Co (p 166) William Jackson is listed: 11010-10010 (1 male under 10, 1 male 10-16, 1 male 26-45; 1 female under 10, 1 female 26-45). This is more likely a son of the above William, since there are two children under 10.

CONFLICT: Helen Silvey's site (http://jpaul.gwdi.com/silvey/larue/d0001/g0000078.htm#I2406) says this Jacob died May 6, 1802 in Washington Co OH. The Jacob appearing in the 1800 census for Washington Co OH can't be the Jacob son of John & Hannah. 1810 VA census for Hampshire Co, Jacob Larue is enumerated next to his brother Cornelius and his mother Hanah: 0 0 0 1 0 1 01 0 0 - 1 male 26-45, 1 female under 10, 1 female 16-26. His daughters were born in 1815 and 1824, so he couldn't have died in 1802.

H.S. also has May 6, 1802 as the marriage date for Jacob Larue (1776-1823, son of Peter and Elizabeth [LaRue] LaRue) and Elizabeth Reynolds.

The parents may have been Heinrich Michael and Suzannah Eve Shuster.

1790 PA Heads of Families, p 255 in Washington County:
Daniel Shuster, 2 males 16 and upwards, 2 males under 16, 7 females. Listed right next to him is Martin Shuster, 1 male over 16, 1 male under 16, and 1 female.
I don't have birthdates for all of the children, but from this census I can assume that one of the daughters, Sarah or Elizabeth, was born before 1790 and one was born after 1790. One of the sons - Daniel, Michael or George - was born before or in 1774, and the other two sons were born before 1790. They were probably born between 1783 and 1790, since there is a gap there in the known birthdates.
I would guess that Martin Shuster is a son of Daniel and Margaret.
Also in the area: Samuel Shuster, 1 male over 16, 1 male under 16, 4 females; Morgaret Shuster, 1 male over 16, 1 male under 16, 1 female.

Daniel Shuster dob 6/13/1752 was born in Germany. He settled in Washington Co. PA in 1766 until 1800 when he migrated to Ohio. He fought in the Rev. War Sept of 1778. He saved his commanding officer's life and was awarded 12 quarter sections of land in Ohio, they were deeded to him by the President of the USA. The land was in the New Cumberland area, in Tuscarawas and Carroll Counties. He had many children.

Two brothers, Joseph and Smith Wingate, came from near Wilmington DE to KY in about 1803, Joseph settling in Lexington and Smith in Franklin County, where he died shortly after his arrival.
Smith married Susanna Capes (Delaware?) and they had a daughter and four sons:
Thomas S. m. Betsy Wooldridge
Cyrus m Millie Spicer
Isaac m Jane Sneed
Henry m Penelope Hart Anderson

Due to the similarity of names (Cyrus, Isaac, Henry), Smith and Joseph could possibly be brothers of Henry. Henry's son Isaac named a son Cyrus. Smith is a name that comes up later in the LaRue family.

I've added some children - Cyrus, Catherine, Eli C. - based on their marriages in Tuscarawas Co OH in the 1820s. If they are not Henry's children, then it's possible Henry has a brother with him in Tuscarawas County. There is an Elizabeth Wingate who married Morgan Toland Feb 24, 1829, so she was born abt 1809. She doesn't fit in Henry's family - which leads to the possibility of another Wingate family in Tuscarawas County.
