I am researching the Were family from Devon County, England. James Were first appears in the 1841 census, his parents are reported to be James Were and Catherine Steel of East Stonehouse, Devon, England but I don't have any confirming records to date. James, the younger married Kate Polley Clark in 1828 and they had two sons: Edwin James b1829 and William Henry b1832. It is belived Kate died in c 1837 and James remarried Mary Westlake in 1839 whereby they had three daughters Mary, Anne and Dorothy and a son, John. In 1850 they adopted two daughters Margaret and Mary Ann and a son Edward all from the Rooney family.
In addition, I'm researching the Arthur Moses Piccott family of Newfoundland and Labrador. He was born in Pass Island, Newfoundland around 1850. He married Elizabeth (surname unknown to date) c 1875 and they had three sons, Robert, Walter and Edgar plus a daughter, Susannah.
Any information would be appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have.
