| Judge Edgar John Ayer came to Henderson, Minnesota in 1854. He was married to Amanda Emma Hauyer and had nine children, six who survived infancy; Emma Amanda, Edgar John Jr., Nellie, Ruth, Estella and Benjamin. On the Hardel side of the family, my grandfather was William Sr., and he was married to Edgar Ayer Jr.'s daughter, Laura. They settled in Kelso Township, Sibley County, Minnesota in a place called Rush River. William Sr.'s father was married four times, so tracing the family background has been interesting, to say the least. They had 10 children, including my mother, Laura. I am also researching the family of Charles (Carl) Ernest Renneke, who came to Minnesota from Germany in 1857. He was married in Germany, but his wife's name and birthdate are unknown, and it is said that she died soon after arriving in Minnesota. Carl and his wife had three children; two sons, Carl Jr, or Charles, born in 1841 and Ernest, born in 1842. They also had a daughter, Fredricka, who was born in 1846. Ernest was married to Martha Manthey and they went on to have a houseful of children, including a son, who turned out to be my father, Arnold. As this is an ongoing "investigation", I am always looking for new leads. I'm also willing to share whatever information I can to help someone else along their path. If you ever need to contact me, please use my e-mail address. Thanks! |
