James Shuford Elliott Family Home Page

I am researching the ELLIOTT family from Rutherford County, North Carolina. My great grandfather was James Shuford Elliott who married Mary Jane Grant in 1889. His parents were James and Maranda Elliott from the Cedar Creek community and were deceased at the time of James Shuford Elliott's marriage. Mary Jane was the daughter of Thomas and India Juba Hill Grant of the Cane Creek community.James Shuford and Mary Jane had four children before 1900 where they appeared in Chimney Rock Township, Rutherford County, North Carolina. The children were Vardie, Thomas H., James Carl and George Dewey Elliott.James Shuford, Mary Jane and Thomas H. were apparently deceased by 1910 when Vardie, who had married George Harmon Lawing by that time, appeared on the Cliffside census along with her brothers, James Carl and George Dewey. Harmon, Vardie, James Carl and George Dewey were all employed at Cliffside Mills.In addition, I am also researching the Hamilton Horsup Horn family from Rutherford County, NC. I am also researching the following South Carolina families: the Robert Ward family of Spartanburg County, SC; the Frank Yokum family of Spartanburg County and the William Henry "Daddy Bill" Horton, Jr family of Cherokee County.Any information would be appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have.
