Talitha Elder the only child of F. M. and Mary Margaret Elder attended grade school, high school, the State Normal at Carbondale, and taught in the Eldorado City Schools for 27 years. She was organizing Regent of the Samuel Elder Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, a member of the Eldorado Woman's Club, the Southern Illinois Historical Society, has been a teacher of The Loyal Daughter's Sunday School Class of the Methodist Church for over fifteen years, and was the first president of the W. S. C. S. of the church.
