Gottfried's father lived in Baden, Germany. He (Jr.) changed his name to Godfrey Keepheart when he came to the states on Sept. 30, 1754, arriving in Phil.,PA on the ship "Neptune". He then settled in Fred. Co., MD where he died.
A record of Godfrey's immigration can be found in Pennsylvania German Pioneers by R.B.Straussburger and W.J.Hinks, published by the Pennsylvania German Society, Norristown, Pa.(1934); Vol. 1 pages 620, 622, 624 for their arrival, and Vol.II, pages 715 and 718 for facsimilies of his signature at that time.
