Notes for MAXINE JO ANN HARTPENCE:|
I can not thank you enough for all your efforts in my part. I want you to know that you are very muchly appreciated.
I hope you have a great time in Henderson. I haven't been through there since the late fifties. There has been a lot of changes I know. My husband, Vern, has a long lost cousin there. Maybe some time you and I can meet there and get better acquainted and Vern could finally meet his cousin.
We live 20 miles south of Tucson off Hwy. 19. If you ever get this way, come and see us. We have casinos here also.
You have been a real godsend to me and I hope I can reciprocate in some way in some way. Thanks again.
De ju vu was what is felt when I read your bio. We have so many things in common. I always tell it like it is but like you in my old age I have learned to temper it with kindness. I always tell people the worst things about me and if they stick around long enough, they can find some surprises. Shakesphere was right when he said, "To thine self be true."
I tell people that if they do want the truth, do not ask me."
It sounds like you have had two nice husbands. That is great!
You have had some tragic things going on your life but you seem to rise above them.
I think if you can get over the absive marriages, it ends up making you stronger.
My first husband was abusive but he was shell-shocked after WWII and that was my excuse for him.
The second one was just plain mean and he tried to kill me for 16 yrs. whenever he could find me. After I left him in 1954, I always anyone that I was involved with that they had never hit me as I would kill them.
Never had a problem with abuse after that.
I hope your health improves as you sound like your life has straightened out otherwise.
It is wonderful to find a man that fulfills his promises. My present husband is like that also.
I hope you are able to get your disability for your back problem. It took my mother a year before they finally approved it but she got all that backpay.
Husband #6 also got it after his open heart surgery but he only had to wait three months.
I really enjoyed the pictures. You are a beautiful lady! You are one year younger than my youngest daughter. I am now going to be 77 in December but I am very young for my age in thought and body. I am just getting over a terrible bout with back problems that I had after I fell at Walgreens here two years ago. Now I am busy trying to get back into shape.
I want you to know I admire the tenacity you have shown. You are my kind of person.
I really appreciate the wonderful work you have done in genealogy. It has broken the brick wall that I was faced with as far as the Vanlues are concerned.
It is wonderful that you take the time to answer the questions that people are asking you on these bulletin boards. It is people like you that make our work that much more exciting. I hope you got the picture that I sent you of Sylvia Ann Vanlue and her brother George. It is not of the best quality but I was thrilled when James Vanlue sent it to me.
I hope you had a good trip to Henderson and won a lot of money.
I think you should write your life story to go along with your genealogy and maybe you will have good luck selling your life story. It sounds like you have had a very tumultous and exciting life also.
Keep in touch!
You certainly did have a very exciting life. I have always loved reading and attribute what little sanity that I have left to my books. When we moved to Arizona I moved with over 3500 books. I loved the traveling in my job also. I traveled to every states except Alaska and I do not do cold weather. I had an account in Hiwaii and one in Sidney Austrailia.
I had the company that offered a custom made service to 500 major insurance companies. I missed it very much like you but I am contented now to do my genealogy and writing my book and the mention of work makes me cringe.
My marriage with Jerry Wall that was the son of Jerry Wald the movie producer was an open marriage and I had the opportunity to become friends with a lot of the stars and dated some such as Johnny Weismuller, Brian Keith, Sean Connery. My best friends at that time was Peter Lorrie and Burl Ives as they were quite intellectual and I absorbed a lot of their reading adventures. Peter Lorrie had a library that was absolutely amazing.
I really miss them both.
I would have loved your job. I never liked working with statistics but the money was good.
Yes, Bookbinders is my all time favorite restaurant. However, I hate the traffic in Boston so I guess my Boston days are gone.
It sounds like all of you sisters were very successful.
I was the only one that had their own business. My sister Patti, raised five children and never worked. My brother, Larry, was an executive for Bell and my brother Victor is the top microwave expert for AT&T. He never married to speak of. He is a hermit and was born without a personality.
Well, I am getty catty so I had better close.
I love your emails. Thanks posting the pictures on your website.
I forgot to tell you I ran into Gregory Peck with my car on Santa Monica Blvd. in Beverly Hills as he was coming out of the gym. He was very nice about it and admitted it was his fault.
