The Wheat parlor was taken around 1900, probably in Mt. Vernon, Iowa. Mary Eleanor McCoy Wheat is seated in the rocker. Above and around the piano are paintings that Dr. Joseph Gillette Wheat did. He took up painting when he was about 60. Courtesy of JoEllen Meuninck.
