Notes for D
AVID WOMACK II:
When David Womack II's father (David Womack I) came home to South Carolina after the war, he wanted to move south intending to settle in Mississippi. However, David Womack II had met his Sarah at a social event and he would not leave without her. David II put his things together and took off after Sarah and as soon as he got to her, they were married. Then, on horseback, traveling through Indian country, they caught up with David's family.

David Womack was in the War of 1812.

(Source: Some Descendants of William Womack, the Immigrant)

There is a gravestone in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Trinity County, Texas, for Sarah Womack. It reads:
"Sarah Womack, wife of David Womack, born January 1, 1789, died December 12, 1858, mother of 12 children all raised to be grown consistent members of the church for 40 years."

She came to the east side of the Neches River with five covered wagons around 1856. She was one of the ones walking. Three of the wagons belonged to her sons, two belonged to her husband's nephews.

The wagons stayed camped on the east side of the river. The men would go across the river every day to search for land to settle on. After two weeks, they found what they wanted and finally brought their families across into Trinity County.
