Frank was the son of W. Herman and Mary K. Goettel. He was a partner with his father in the Goettel & Son General Store in Ackley, Iowa. His wife Nelle was a milliner in the store. They had one daughter, Kathryn (aka Polly) who resides in Ackley, Iowa at the Presbyterian Nursing Home.
