After visiting the Wakefield House in Blue Earth during the Goettel/Schmidt 2-day Reunion; some of us walked across the street to the "old Blue Earth library" where the Faribault County Historical Society has some of it's holdings. There we found a picture painted by "our famous" relative Carl Schmidt. Carl was the son of Rev. Frederick and Ellen (Hacklander) Schmidt. Frederick was a brother to Anna (Schmidt) Goettel.
It is possible this picture hung in the Blue Earth Library for many years before the new library was constructed in downtown Blue Earth, Minnesota.
