German was the son of John and Ann (Amadon) Franklin. German was married to Sarah Drake. He served as Auditor for Jackson and Faribault Counties. He was a partner in the firm of McArthur, Hill and Franklin, a farm implement dealer, farmer and was in the furniture business. I have seen his name spelled Germain as well as German.
