3. JOHN2 DAME (GEORGE JOHN1) was born 1786 in Botetourt, Virginia, and died February 06, 1866 in near Jasper, Marion Co., Tennessee. He married ELIZABETH ARNDT OYLER March 02, 1807 in Rockymount, Franklin, VA, daughter of VALENTINE OYLER and MARY ARNDT. She was born 1786 in Franklin Co., Virginia, and died 1871.

OHN DAME:
He learned the Tanner trade in Virginia. Moved to Tennessee in 1807 locating in the Sequatchie Valley. The Indians were living in the lower part of the Sequatchie valley when they first moved to the state and the region was wild and unimproved. He belonged to the Methodist Episcopal Church and worked as a tanner. He served in the War of 1812. On the close of hostilities he walked from Mobile, Alabama to his home. Later he moved his family to Kentucky but didn't like the state and moved back to Tennessee. He was a Whig and a Union sympathizer. He passed away on the family farm.

She was born 1790 in East Nantmeal, Chester, PA, and died 1815 in Muhlenberg Co., McLean, KY. He married (2) SARAH MUSGROVE Abt. 1818 in Maryland. She was born January 17, 1799, and died February 27, 1876 in Popular Grove Cemetery, McLean Co., KY.

Andrew Dame, s/o George Jacob and Sarah (Musgrave) Dame, was a Union Soldier in Co. I, 36th Indiana Infantry. He was taken prisoner at the Battle of Chickamauga and sent to Andersonville Prison Camp, where he died. He is buried at Andersonville in Grave #10435

  Notes for ELISHA DAME:
He and his brother-in-law, Bradford Worthington, Margaret's husband, were taken prisoner during a conflict in which he came face to face with his brother Andrew. They each turned and walked away and never saw each other again. Elisha and Bradford were taken to Camp Morton Prison Camp in Indiana where Elisha died. Six months later Andrew was captured and sent to Andersonville Prison.
