Owen D and Telinda Jackson Hatfield are buried at Olivet Cemetery in Scott TWP Mahaska County Iowa.Near them are buried their daughter Lydia who died at age 16, William and Mary Hatfield Reeves and their two infant daughters, Willie O Newhouseson of John McCrea and Samantha Hatfield Newhouse, William and Laura Cummings Hatfield, Ulysess and Willard C Hatfield, Nancy GAris Hatfield wife of Joseph and two of their children Elmer and Anna. Emma Fetterhoff was raised in Oskaloosa, Iowa by her grandparents Simon Galis and Hannah Buntain Turner.Albert Richard Fetterhoff was according toEmma a circuit riding evangelist for the United Bretheren Church.Isabelle Turner md him about 1872 and Emma wasborn in1873.Isabelle died in1880 from "stomach disease" I assume appendicitis, and the Turner's raised her with the younger of their own children.Emma attended William Penn College a Quaker College founded in 1879 and studied music with Virginia Knight Logan the sister of Frances Knight Logan who composed the "Missouri Waltz."Emma'shusband died in1914leaving her with three children under 16.She used her music to support herself and the children.She was also a governess for the Hubble Family of Des MOines FAme and during the 1920's played for silentmovies during the week, thespeak easy's on the weekend and for herreal love--the church on Sundays. During the Thirties Emma and her daughterHelen Vance founded the Open Bible Church in Des Moines Iowa.Church histories count them as the "foundingmother's." This picture was taken in the mid 1800's andwas found in my Grandmother Emma Fetterhoff Hatfield's belongings. It is a picture of her father Albert R and his brother Jacob who settled in Story County Iowa. Jacob is listed in 1880 census of that county. Emma Fetterhoff was raised as a "young lady"by her grandparents Simon Galis and Hannah Buntain Turner.As such she was given all the womanly graces including musical training. She studied with Virginia Knight Logansister of Frances Knight Logan the composer of the "Missouri Waltz."
