| My Whitaker family I have researched back to 1683 in Nottingham, England, it begins with Godfrey who married Elizabeth Baker, their son also Godfrey married Elizabeth (no record of marriage found)but shown as mother of their children,Godfrey was a stonemason and went on to marry twice more to Mary Watson and Fortune Godfrey, The son of Godfrey and Elizabeth, Edward was a gardener and Burgess of the town of Nottingham he married Ann Watson, their son also Edward Married Ann Tatton and was a gardener like his father he was also a Burgess.Son of Edward and Ann again Edward was a Butcher in the town of Nottingham he married Ann Butler daughter of a well respected Baker, their three sons George, William Butler and Edward all went on to follow their fathers trade of Butcher, William Butler Whitaker being my direct ancestor, he married Mary Ann Brewster His son George Edward my Gt Grandfather was a pawnbroker and salesman by trade and he married Betsy Newton, in turn they produced my grandfather Charles Brewster Whitaker, the name Butler, Brewster and Newton was added as a second forename to many of their decendants, as well as the above names others associated with my whitakers include Thorp,Todd,Tufnell,Rooker, Shaw,Mills ,Saxon and many others, I have been researching my name for some 20 years and have collected many interesting facts about this and associated families, If you think you may have a link to us I would be very pleased to hear from you at jameswhitaker999@aol.com Jim Whitaker |
