1. MATHIAS¹ SMITH^1,² was born 1782 in Virginia ³, and died 1821 in Fayette Co., OH ⁴. He married NANCY CHRISTENA MYERS^5,⁶ 21 Mar 1809 in Botetourt Co., VA ^7,^8,⁹, daughter of JACOB MYERS and CHRISTINA SCHUSTER.

Notes for MATHIAS SMITH:
The Biography of Milan Smith states that his father, Mathias died in 1821. However, correspondence with the FAyette County Genealogical Library indicates they have a Bill of Sale for the Estate of Mathias Smith dated 1826.

Letter from Nancy Dickinson, Archivist, Fayette County Archive Center
received 08 Jan 2001:

"We have the estate, relatively speaking, of a Mathias Smith. It is in Will
Book A, pages 79-80. It is just a sale bill and I could find no other
estate file. It is from 1826."

Ms. Dickinson also did some futher research as she also stated:

"Also found the estate of Jacob Myers Smith. It is file #522 and Luther
Smith is the executor. That was filed 11/10/1847
