According to the Family Tree, handwritten, prepared by Wm. Hugh Smith in the late 1960's....
Sam settled near Plattsburg (that would be in Clark County, OH).

The children and wife listed herein were compiled by Wm. Hugh Smith. This researcher (Jane Martin Whitty) believe this not to be the correct Sam Smith. A search of Fayette County Census Records (1850 and 1870) revealed an Isaac Smith ...believed to have been a son of Matthias. The Isaac Smith found had a wife Lydia and children listed about as listed herein. Whereas, further search for a Samuel Smith with a wife Lydia and these children did not yield anything that matches, in either county....Clark or Fayette.
