3. ASAHEL² RICE (EDWARD¹)⁹ was born Abt. 1812 in OH ¹⁰, and died Bef. 1860 ^11,¹². He married ORRISSA SPRAGUE¹³ 07 Sep 1836 in Clark Co, OH ¹⁴, daughter of JAMES SPRAGUE and POLLY UNKNOWN.

Notes for ASAHEL RICE:
20th Century History of Springfield and Clark County by Wm. M. Rockel, Pub 1908, page 254 states:

"One of his (Edward Rice's) sons, Asa, now deceased, built a steam saw and grist mill in Vienna about 1854"

Asa Rice is listed in the 1840 Census, living in Harmony Twp. Asa is listed as head of household, with the following ages and gender also living there: It appears that one of his brothers may have been living with him at the time.
