Became Staff Sergeant E-6, April 13, 1963 at which time he was transferred to Fort Carson, Colorado. Retired January 31, 1964 after 20 years of Active Federal Service. Received WWII Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal.

Omitted one 's' from last name while in the service as mail delivery became to confusing with so many other Thomasson's.
