My 4th Great Grand Parent. Old black Monson slate slab in the old Colomy's Point Cemetery in Oceanville--Stonington, Deer Isle, Miane. This old slab is 3 feet high and 2 feet wide with the weeping willow and urn at the top. Incription reads: Mr. Joseph Whitmore died June 14, 1842 in the 87th year of his age "The aged Saint beneath this sod Was both a friend to man and God And through his life these traits we find That he was free, humane, and kind. He stood his country to defend, And loved the same until the end; As husband and as father too He filled his place while here below."
