This labor of love started with a death certificate found in my mother-in-law's belongings. It was for her mother, Nora Lee Vistine HALE THRIFT born in 1886. She was buried at Gibeon Baptist Church Cemetery in Village, Virginia and her parents were Senora LEWIS and Augustus James HALE. Who were these people and where was Village, Virginia?? The rest is history, excuse the pun! Main surnames being researched in the Village and Callao areas of Virginia are: THRIFT, BRYANT, HALE, and LEWIS of Richmond County and Northumberland County of Virginia.

I haven't given up on my Virginia ancestors. I'm currently working on the Whittington from Anne Arundel County, Maryland.
