Vi worked for the Commerce Department for 30 years, retiring in 1972.  During WWII, she was a courier of secret documents for the government.  After the war, she met and married George N. Adams.  The marriage lasted for 50 years.

William Whitfield Thrift "Willie" was living at 615 G Street SE Washington DC at the time of his death in 1936.  He had worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad for 26 years and was a conductor.  He was killed in New Jersey when he was hit by a car returning to his train.  

He had red hair.  He sold a bicycle to Sedrick Hale when he was young.

Notes for RICHARD THOMAS THRIFT:
He came to Washington D.C. in 1909 and worked as a streetcar operator.  In 1912 he joined the Metropolitan Police during the Taft Administration.  He was a resident of the Anacostia area for more than 60 years.  He left the police force in 1917 when during a cold February day, his horse slipped on the ice and fell on him.  The accident on tuberculosis.  He then drove a cab until he was 72.  He remained active by doing volunteer and church work.

According to Sedrick Hale, Millard studied for the ministry in Chicago and was the minister for Gibeon Baptist Church for a time.  According to Elaine (Thrift) Lindgren, he was minister in a Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia.  He was preacher at Smithland Baptist Church 1935-1938 per Indie Shepp.

According to Richmond County, Virginia Bond Book #3 Page 391, he applied for a marriage license on November 4, 1935.  Philip L. Bryant surety.
