Charles Ray was the Son of James and Eunice (Kiefer)born in Ohio. I have been told that James' father's name was William, born in New York State somewhere. I know that William was born Abt: 1775 and went to Luzerne Co. PA. where James was born. William's wife was Mary ? born in CT. I am lost at this point so if anyone can help it would be appreciated.
I am told that they went into Michigan and may have been around Lake Houghton but some lived near Three Oakes, Mi. I remember going to a family reuion there once. Charles married Lucinda Cowgill in Michigan but lived in New Carlisle,IN. He is my great grandfather.
My Grandfather was George Ray married to Mary (Thomsen) in Minden, Neb. Her parents came from Denmark. Grandpa Ray as a young man would ride the rails and in the fall the men would ride the trains west and at the stations there would be men looking for help in harvesting their crops. That is how Grandpa met Mary.
