The
present account has been presented today in presence of Hans Heinrich Schaeffer
the mayor and of the two magistrates, Hans Ertz and Claus Träger, and of both
justice counselors and ratified by our Landlord, in Soufflenheim on the 27th
September in the year 1666.
The following 24 people probably lived
in Soufflenheim in 1665. Their names are mentioned in various parts of the 1665
Town Account. Individuals in the Town Account not described as residing
elsewhere are listed below.

Nineteen
of the 24 people are mentioned by their first and last name. Those whose last
names are not mentioned are:
PASTOR
WILHELM: The last year he served as priest in Soufflenheim was 1665.
BARTEL:
This may be Bartel Giger. In 1677 a man named Bathel Giger died. There was also
a Barthel Jorger who paid 4 florins for citizenship in 1672 (M. Peres
research). A Bartel Berger is listed as owning land in 1694.
CLAUS:
This is probably Claus Trager, the Heimburger in 1664 and 1666. Claus is
mentioned several times as working on various outdoor projects.
LIPS:
No first or last name resembling "Lips" is found in any subsequent records.
PETTER:
There are several individuals who could be Peter:
To better determine if the 19
individuals mentioned in the 1665 Town Account lived in Soufflenheim, their
names and surnames were searched for in
the inventory records and the 1680 and 1701 tax records. Only Hans Greffen,
Jacob Linder and Falk Munier are not found elsewhere. As Greffen is
specifically described as living in Soufflenheim, this leaves only two of
nineteen people not mentioned in other records.

Christian
Hitzinger may or may not have lived in Soufflenheim at this time. A Christian
Hitzinger lived in nearby Schirhein in 1681. (Inventory of Paul Berckinger,
1681)
Paul
Mosser and Lorentz Schaeffer paid tax on the sale of wine in 1665, so both were
innkeepers. Paul Mosser died before 1691. Another Paul Mosser, presumably his
son, is mentioned in 1699 as the inn landlord of "The Crown" in
Soufflenheim. Lorentz Cron, another early innkeeper, was the stepfather of Paul
Mosser. In 1684 Lorentz Cronenburger is listed as the inn landlord of the inn
named "The Crown".
