JOSEPH KIEFFER / MAGDALENA MEY September 7, 1797 (21 Fructidor Year 5) Roeschwoog 7E44 #12: Marriage Contract Marriage contract between: JOSEPH KIEFFER, burgher, minor of years, bachelor, son of JOSEPH KIEFFER SENIOR in Soufflenheim and to : MAGDALENA MEY, daughter of ANTON MEYER and MAGDALENA SCHITT his wife. The property brought into the unions by the husband is : a sum of 200 pounds. The husband also brings a place to build a house and the necessary materials, also money due in amount of 746 pounds. Witnesses are Joseph Kieffer, Anton Mey and Amsler.
JOSEPH KIEFFER and MAGDALENA MEY Marriage Record (Son of Joseph Kieffer and Margaret Gotz) 01 Oct 1797 10 Vendémiaire Year 6 To-day the 10th of Vendémiaire in the 6th year of the French republic at 11 a.m. in front of me Carl Keller agent of the town of Soufflenheim, Bas Rhin, elected the 3rd complementary day of the 5th year, to write down the records concerning births, marriages and deaths of citizens, in the main hall to contract marriage ; one side JOSEPH KIEFFER a farmer, aged 28 years, son of Joseph Kieffer, farmer aged 65, and of deceased Magdalena Wasser living in the city of Soufflenheim, same department ; on the other side MAGDALENA MEY aged 28 years, daughter of Anton Mey barreler by profession, aged 60 and of Magdalena Schütz, 61 years old, in the same Soufflenheim, accompanied of Peter Messner, 36 years old, a farmer, Michael Messner, 41 years old, Joseph Messner, 38 years old, both farmers, Johannes Thoma, 33 years old, baker by profession, all of the named place, and all well known to the new couple, after I, Carl Keller, public officer, in presence of the parties and witnesses had given lecture of the birth record of Joseph Kieffer, proving that he was born of legitimate union of Joseph Kieffer and Magdalena Wasser in Soufflenheim on the 24th July in year 1769, second of the birth record of Magdalena Mey proving that she was born to the legitimate couple Anton Mey and Magdalena Schütz on the 10th March in year 1769 in Soufflenheim, third of the publications record and promise of marriage of both new married persons, that has been made by me Carl Keller on the 20th Fructidor at midday in this common city hall in Soufflenheim and hung of the main gate to let know to any one the future marriage.

JOSEPH KIEFFER Senior 20 January 1827 Roeschwoog 7E44/67 Inventory Inventory of property left by JOSEPH KIEFFER senior, in his lifetime a farmer in Soufflenheim, died in this place in April 1817. Required by : his widow MADELEINE MEY, and widow and as guardian of her son, minor of years : MARC KIEFFER, 20 years old. The other children major of years and born to the same couple are : MADELEINE KIEFFER, wife of JACQUES MEYER in Dahlunden PHILIPPE KIEFFER, in Soufflenheim. This inventory is passed in the house of the deceased and contains a description of furniture, papers of the community. The widow shows forth a marriage contract passed on the 21st Fructidor year 5, mentioning the separation of the property brought on each side into the union, and the community of property to be acquired by the couple during the union. Total gift is of 200 francs in liquidity. The husband's father leaves his house in Soufflenheim to the new couple for 740 francs. This house goes to Philippe Kieffer, the heir, as from his marriage contract to FRANÇOISE SCHLOSSER of Soufflenheim, passed the 9th of this month.
