Skip's BROWN, MARTIN & WIEST Families

Updated January 27, 2004

This page will eventually include information on my BROWN, MARTIN & WIEST families. My research efforts on these families has, unfortunately, hit brickwalls! I'm hopeful that I will find someone who is researching one of these families:

BROWN: Earliest known ancestor - Andrew BROWN, b. possibly in CT. Married to Jane WEBSTER. Jane had a sister, Phylotha WEBSTER, who married Abraham BROWER in Glastonbury, Hartford, CT. Andrew and Jane were living in Otsego Co., NY, by 1805, and moved to Ashtabula Co., OH, ca. 1830. Andrew supposedly died in Ashtabula Co. in 1840; Jane died sometime later in MI. Known children: Sylvester, Mary, Merilla, Henry, +3 others. **NOTE**: SEE REPORT BELOW on these individuals!

MARTIN: Earliest known ancestor - William Maurice MARTIN, b. 1833 in Monroe Co., NY. Moved with father, step-mother, and other (?) siblings to MO ca. 1846-50, possibly to Chariton Co. Married 1865 to Hannah Loretta BROWN (daughter of Sylvester Brown, noted above) in Ottawa, LaSalle, IL. Died 1923 in Belle Fourche, Butte, SD. Children: Chester Thorne Martin, Annie Brown Martin Harris, Robert I. Martin. **NOTE**: SEE REPORT BELOW on these individuals!

WIEST: Researching descendants and families of Daniel WIEST (1809-1896) and Sarah SCHNEIDER (1821-1898) of Oley, Berks, PA. Daniel and Sarah had 10 children, many of whom remained in the Oley and Reading areas in PA; four children, however, settled in Citrus Co., FL., in the 1870s. I am interested in contacting the descendants of all branches of Daniel and Sarah in order to update our family tree (I have a copy of Brian Barr Wiest's fine book, "The History and Genealogy of the Wiest Family".) **NOTE**: SEE REPORT BELOW on these individuals!

Thanks!
