| I am researching the families of Christian and Mary Wiegert (maiden name unknown) who immigrated from Germany to American in 1896, settling in Sanilac County Michigan. Christian and Mary had seven children including our ancester Herman Frederick Wiegert, born Oct 29, 1886. The family purchased an 80 acre farm in Marlette Twp, Sanilac Co, MI, in 1896 and has resided there ever since. I am also researching the families of Ernest and Amelia Brandt (nee Linde, previous marriage Baker)who also immigrated from Germany and settled in Sanilac County Michigan. Christian and Mary Wiegert's son Hermann married Ernest and Amelia Brandt's daughter Emma on March 8, 1911, and made their home on the family farm. Herman and Emma had three children, Herman Roy (m-Berneice Ode), Harold Arthur (m-Jacqueline Dowling) and Elsie Mae (m-Neil Boyne). The family farm is still owned by a grandson of Herman and Emma and the land continues to be farmed by three other grandsons. The homested is currently being renovated, however family members are welcome to visit the farm once the renovation is complete which should be the summer of 2007. Contact me via e-mail to arrange a visit. Any information or contributions to this family's history would be greatly appreciated. I am also willing to share any information that I have with others. (This site is a work in progress and much of my research has not yet been uploaded. I will continue to update and refresh this site time permitting.) |
