The Wiedemann Family of New England
I am researching the Wiedemann family who settled in the Boston area specifically West Roxbury, Roslindale, Cambridge and Dedham, Massachusetts My grandfather, Carl P. Wiedemann was born7-8-1891 in Cambridge,MA. son of Charles Wiedemann who was born about 1864 amd Helene Kuenstler. According to a Cambridge MA 1889 city directory his occupation was a "Shade Painter" what ever that is. Charles, leaving his wife and sons, "went west" in the early 1890's and was never heard from again. Recently I located a church record in Michigan which indicated a Charles Wiedemann at age 37 married his second wife Minnie Stone in 1895. Could this be the same Charles? Dates, names and ages fit but who knows? I also uncovered from 1893 a record, more likely, of a Charles Wiedman, a painter, who was living on the corner of Pine & Needham streets in Dedham, MA within several hunderd yards of a spot where Carl P. Wiedemann proposed marriage to Catherine Wilhauck according to family legend. At that time he may have been living with or near a brother? Albert E. Wiedeman, a farmer, and a Mrs. Emily Wiedeman Would love to uncover his fate, and any other connection to this branch of the Wiedemann Clan. Carl P. Wiedemann married Catherine Henrietta Willhauck (Wilhauck)of Field Street in Roxbury,MA.He had two brothers, Frederick and Norman. His mother Helene remarried Bernard Krautwurst who raised the three Wiedemann boys and had two daughters Helen and Laura by him. Any help, suggestions or corrections are appreciated and will be acknowledged. Would like to swop information. Surnames include: Wiedemann / Wiedeman Willhauck / Wilhauck Richter Krautwurst / Croutworst Kuenstler Meinhardt Koppe Stone | The WiedemannFamily of New England Updated March 16, 2003 |
