He settled first on James River near Richmond; removed to Halifax Co., VA, thence to Halifax Co., NC (?) [see village of Cody, sometimes called "Cody's Ferry" or "Cody's Landing"]; eventually, ca. 1789-90, to Warren Co. (then Wilkes Co.), GA. The family produced seven boys and two girls, all of whom left descendants.
