Notes for John Williams: He was first Lieutenant from 1850 to1854 in the Mercer County State Militia. The family were members of the Baptist Church. They were received into the Church in1858 by Rev. Matthew Ellison. They first settled down in Mercer County, then moved to Mason County as a result of a property line dispute with relatives. Each relative built a fence two feet apart. John was a farmer in Mason County. They are buried at the Williams Cemetery, located on the Milton Sayre farm, about a mile from Capehart, Mason County, West Virginia. |
