OTTO A KATHMANN
Otto Kathman was the son of Clemens August Kathmann and Mary Ann Metzger who were from Oldenburg, Germany. Otto was born and raised in Quincy, Illinois. Otto Kathman had only one child in his lifetime and that was a daughter, born out of wedlock, the mother being Emma Panhorst Stickman. Their daughter was born on 13 July 1889 and baptized as "Laura Bertha Isabel", Isabel's last name, Stickman was given to her from her mother's late husband who was Henry Stickman who died in 1885. Otto Kathman suffered from tuberculosis, as did others in his family. Otto’s relationship with Emma Stuckman is a mystery except for the child that they together conceived and baptized. No further mention of this relationship can be found in the family histories of Kathman, Stuckman or Clark. Otto Kathman later married Elizabeth M. "Lillie" Bernsen (Bernzen) in St. Louis, Missouri. Lillie was born on 15 March 1864 in Quincy, Illinois. They had no children. In addition they were both Roman Catholic. Otto Kathman died 9 Sep 1908 in Quincy, Illinois of tuberculosis. Otto and his wife Lillie are both buried in St. Boniface Cemetery (Catholic) in Quincy, Illinois.
