According to the information I have collected....If the James you mention is he born 1 June 1671 New London CT, Then his father was Matthew Beckwith (son of Matthew the immigrant) and his wife Elizabeth -----. Her last name is unknown, however, there is speculation that it may possibly be HILL- daughter of John and Frances HILL. After she died in 1689, Matthew remarried (c1691) to Elizabeth GRISWOLD ROGERS PLATT, widow of Peter PRATT and formerly divorced from John ROGERS. I show that he remarried 3rd to Sarah STARKEY.
