Notes for Mildred Viola Alexander: Mildred V. Alexander Rosentangle - February 27, 2003
DES MOINES - Willapa native Mildred Viola Alexander Rosentangle died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003, in Des Moines. She was 83.
Mrs. Rosentangle was born on Nov. 27, 1919, to Bessie Louderback and Andrew J. Alexander Jr. She was the great-granddaughter of Pacific County Pioneers John Marion Louderback and Nancy Louisa Wilson, daughter of Daniel Pegg Wilson. Both families settled in Pacific County in 1852. She was also the great-granddaughter of Andrew and Margaret Kelly Alexander, who immigrated to Pacific County from Scotland in the mid-1870s.
She graduated from Willapa High School in 1937. She worked at Pacific Northwest Bell before getting married.
On March 28, 1942, she married Edward Rosentangle. He later died.
She was an avid golfer and belonged to the Willapa Harbor Golf Club. She also enjoyed animals and gardening.
For many years she lived in British Columbia where her husband and her brother-in-law, Curtis Kennedy, owned logging operations. She enjoyed her time there, including fishing and walking on the beach.
Mrs. Rosentangle is survived by her son, John of Des Moines, and a daughter, Andrea Wieland, of Seattle.
In addition to her husband, her sister, Leah B. Kennedy, and her brother, Andrew E. Alexander, died before her.
A graveside service is planned for 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, at Fern Hill Cemetery in Menlo.
Arrangements are by Stoller's Mortuary in Raymond.
