The combined Family Tree of Richard Scott and Delores Sue (GREEN) WILLEY is a enjoyable hobby for me now for several years. I have spent my prerequisite time in dusty libraries, County Courthouses and cemeteries and studying many Federal Census records. Needless to say, including collateral lines, my tree has grown substantially. This hobby has introduced me to many previously unknown relatives; My Greene cousins from the "second" family; George, Garland, Gail, Eddie, Gwen, Max, and great-aunt Belva; Frank Harris, Aunt Sena Harris's grandson and Jennifer Humphries, Aunt Rosella's granddaughter; my Stewart family; Great-Aunt Winnie, and cousins, Doug, Jimmy and Jerry in KY and Barbara and Mickie in Oregon. My Jones & Gott cousins in Knoxville, TN, children of grandfather's half-sister, Texie (Jones) Gott; and many Renfroe & Holbrook relatives; like, Ruth & Larry Smitt; Janice and Connie in KY; and the family of Bess (Leadingham) Laventure, half-niece of my grandmother. It has also introduced me to many Willey family members, including Muriel Dotsie, Rick's first cousin who has been such fun with her jokes and news and her daughters who helped me with the Willey Ancestry.
Please do not contact me to "chew me out" because you think you have found an error. As with all amateur researchers, information that I have listed here is subject to error. Both mine and source. Typos are made sometimes as well. I have tried to be very accurate and noted anything that is an assumption due to proximity, age, naming patterns and etc. However, there are sure to be mistakes and I welcome any corrections or additons.
Hopefully you will find something useful here. Either as a starting point for your own research or to open a new area to direct your research. Please use this information as a research tool ONLY. All information should be verified by your own means and for your personal usage. Nothing contained here may be used for commercial purposes.
It would be remiss of me not to mention a few of the people who have been a great help to me in my research. Order of listing has no bearing on the amount of help or the amount of my gratitude. GREEN, BARKER & WHITE Ancestry: cousin, Harold Greene, Jr. and Charles Barker, a friend & cousin, from early days in Ashland, KY, (I have since found out that Charles is a dedicated genealogist and very good I might add--Thanks Charles); THOMAS Ancestry: Robert Thomas. JONES & HUGHES Ancestry: Stokes Bailey of Bakersville, NC and all the little tidbits my Uncle Paul Jones provided me, that would lead me in new directions; STEWART Ancestry: A truly GREAT Great-aunt, Winnie Mize, of Harlan Co, KY and cousin, Barbara Williams; HOLBROOK Ancestry: Janice LeMasters and Wade Holbrook; RENFROE Ancestry: William G. "Billy" Renfroe, Mollie Renfroe Geyer, Armenda Renfroe Barker, Larry Smitt, plus all the bits and pieces that have been filled in by all my dear cousins, and the many new relatives and friends I have met online. Also lots of help from Susan Renfro Anderson; WILLEY Ancestry: Muriel Dotsie and her mother, Ruth (Willey) Lambert and daughters, Linda Hopey & Donna LaBranch. Also lots of help from Wings Willey before her death; REARDON Ancestry: Joann Desjardins and Aunt Barbara Issacson; BLETHEN Ancestry: Delmar Dolbier. Thank you all for your help and information.
Currently, I am researching the: WILLEY/REARDON/ LEIGHTON/THOMPSON/CUMMINGS/RAND/MOODY & BLETHEN families on the Willey side of the tree. I have hit a brick wall with John Edward Reardon, Sr. All these families resided in New England with the exception of James Blethen who moved to Oakland, CA. and became the Mayor of Oakland in the 1890's.
On the GREEN side: GREEN/WHITE/SPARKS/GILLENWATER/PORTER/
DUNCAN/COCKE/RENFROE/HOLBROOK/BARKER/HUNTER/JONES/HUGHES/LETTERMAN/THOMAS/STEWART/MIDDLETON/CHADWELL & BAILEY. These families were from NC, VA, & KY
