2. ISAAC SANSON² COLLINS (JOHN¹) was born 1789 in Harrison County, Virginia, and died December 12, 1873 in Ritchie County, WV. He married RACHEL CUNNINGHAM, daughter of THOMAS CUNNINHAM and PHOEBE TUCKER. She was born May 1794 in Harrison County, Virginia, and died December 15, 1882 in Ritchie County, WV.

Notes for ISAAC SANSON COLLINS:
Isaac was the son of one of the original settlers of the Collins Settlement in the extreme southern end of what is now Lewis County. He was Irish descent and had served in the War of 1812. In 1852, the Collins family located on a new farm on Grass Run, near Smithville, being the second family to settle there. Sometime after 1835, Isaac S. Collins moved his family over the divide to Leading Creek where he became the first settler in that valley. In those days Smithville, as well as Leading Creek, was in Lewis County. The Collins homestead was a few hundred yards upstream from the junction of Seth Fork. Here Phebe Cunningham lived until her death in1845, and here she is buried in the Gainer cemetery on the family farm. In the 1860 census, Isaac and Racheal, in their seventies, were living on their Leading Creek farm but, by the time of the 1880 census, Isaac was deceased, Racheal age 91 was still living.
