4. CHARLES SIDNEY4 WILLIAMS, SR. (PERRY C.3, WILLIAM2, ROBERT1) was born September 22, 1869 in St. Charles, Winona County, Minnesota, and died May 6, 1938 in Chadron, Nebraska. He married (1) LILY THOMAS, daughter of BENJAMIN THOMAS and SARAH HAMLIN. She was born July 9, 1870 in Trenton, Grundy, Missouri, and died 1904. He married (2) PEARL ?. He married (3) AGNES. He married (4) LA VERNE L. STURDIVANT August 5, 1927 in Greeley, CO, daughter of JOE STURDIVANT and ADALINE ROGERS. She was born September 23, 1908, and died November 29, 1981.

HARLES SIDNEY WILLIAMS, SR.:
Sid was Sheriff of Sioux County for 12 years. At the same time he ran a ranch and raced horses.

Sid was transporting a prisoner to the State Penitentiary in Lincoln in 1935 when he was involved in a one-car crash. He suffered a severe spinal injury. In March of 1938 he became paralyzed from the waist down and died in May of 1938.

Sid came with his family to Dawes County at Chadron. Nebraska in 1886 and was a homesteader and pioneer.

ILY THOMAS:
Lily and her sister Minnie T. Weir were two of Sioux County's first school teachers.

Lily arrived with her sister Minnie in Sioux County on February 25, 1887. (Found on page 39 of the History of Sioux County.)

Lily's sister Minnie, wrote; My first view of Sioux County was on February 25, 1887. when sister Lily and I, girls of 16 and 18 respectively, stepped off of the F. E. & M. V. passenger train at Bowen. We were met by our father B. F. Thomas and ushered into the living room of the depot which was occupied by Charles Tubbs a contractor and builder, his wife and two school aged children, Edith and Johnnie. The station agent James Northrup was a bachelor as were most of the inhabitants of Sioux County at that time.

Lily had black eyes and hair, which fell almost to her ankles.

Lily and Sid were estranged when she died. She left and went back to live with her parents in Greenfield, Mo. near or shortly after the birth of their fifth child Floyd on October 3, 1903. The surviving children lived for about year with her mother Sarah Roseannah (Hamlin) Thomas. After Lily's death the children went back to live with their father.
