Notes for P. Rasmus Andresen Hollander: Eldo Hollander, who is responsible for the information on the Hollander family, says, "After reading history of Germany and of the Scandinavian countries, it is my firm belief that the Hollander name or family originated in the country of Holland.
'Records show that an N. Hollander had a son who lived from 1636-1731. In the Dutch territory of Holland. Other records and leads show of births and deaths in towns or villages, namely: Ulnsis, Grumly, Twedt, Schleswig, Suderbraup, Norderbraup, Schnraup and Karlemhop or Kurlumfeldt, which was part of Denmark and is now Germany.
'My great grandfather was P. Rasmus Andresen Hollander, who was born and died in Karlum, Denmark. This area is now part of West Germany. Dates of his birth and death are not available at this time. Records show that he was a hufner, meaning "landowner" or farm agent.
'Great Grandmother Hollander came to America in 1885 making her home with her children. She died at the home of her son, Thomas P., in Ida County, Iowa."
