The first known Ancestor of the Longs in Lee County is David Long . He was born in South Carolina in 1798. In 1820 he married Miss Sara Cargle in Jones County, Georgia. She died in 1867. David Long moved to Russell County in 1842 where he settled Hallawaka Creek. He was a farmer.

At this time I am unsure of the correct spelling of Sara Cargle and the date of her marriage to David Long in Jones County, Georgia. In the marriage records of Jones County, Georgia by Frances T. Ingmire, list a David Long married to Sally Cagle 12/28/1820.
