| This will be an on-going project to research the Maxfield family on my mother's side, the Hartmann family on my father's side, and the Williford family on my husband's side. Any information, corrections, pictures, or trivia you might be willing to share would be greatly appreciated. I am more than willing to swap or share my GEDCOM files with anyone who has a legitimate interest in them. My mother's research has turned up three recurring traits in the Maxfield family line. These are: 1- Red-Headedness. 2- Hereditary Opalescent Dentin. 3- Restless Leg Syndrome. Hereditary Opalescent Dentin is a genetic defect of the teeth, where the tooth enamel does not bond correctly to the dentin, causing the teeth to wear down to the gums. It can necessitate false teeth/dentures as early as the teen years. Restless Leg Syndrome is a condition in which the extremities - often the legs - twitch repeatedly. This often occurs while relaxing or trying to go to sleep, and can continue for hours on end. While not Parkinsonism, it is treatable with some of the same drugs. If you have questions or information about RLS, please contact me at janice@jansplace.com, or Shirley Hartmann at HorstJH@aol.com. |
