29, 1919, Monday. Nice day. I was at
the store most of the day. papa cut some corn. Mother & Mary picked the
winter apples. Well, I helped some. Mr. Barton hauled them down for us. Bayard
came this evening about dark. He called in from Gassaway & said that he was
coming. He walked from Gassaway on in. There was a bean shelling at Mr. Dalton
Reip's to-night. Howard & Ofa Barton came in a few min. evening on their way
to the party. Eva Miller & Bessie Hashman were out in the yard but they
didn't come in.
Sept.
30, Tuesday, lovely day. Bayard & I stayed in the store while papa cut some
corn. We came home about twelve o'clock. Mother & us went up to aunt
Martha's this afternoon.
Oct.
1, Wednesday, hot day. Bayard started home to-day. I went as far as the store
with him, as I had to stay in the store awhile any way while papa cut corn.
Mother washed to-day, I helped some. Vernetta Frame & Clifford were here
awhile to-day. Harley & Sylvia were here a little while.

2, Thursday, nice day, I was at the store again till noon. papa cut some corn.
Mother went over to Mrs. Hewitt's to get some molasses. Hope Reeder is here
to-night. Howard and Ofa Barton were here a little while this evening. There is
to be a molasses boiling at Mr. Lambert's to-night. We had an invitation But we
are not going.

3, Friday lovely day. I stayed at the store again this morning, while father
cut some corn & then went to Rosedale. I got a letter from Lillie Smith.
Mother went down to Mrs. Dobbins after some molasses. of course Mary is at
school. I was weighed this morning. I weighed 129 lb. Sylvia was at the store.
She weighs l35 lb. I am going up to aunt Martha's in a little while.

4, Saturday, cloudy, rained a little bit. Mary went to mill. Mother went over
to Lilly's to-day. There is going to be a bean shelling at Dalton Reip's
to-night. Howard Barton & Earl Carr were here a little while to-night. I
got a card from Bayard to-day. He arrived at Gassaway all O.K..

5, Sunday, rained some to-day. We had several here for dinner. Mrs. Bell
Nicholas, and her five children. Tressie, Orpha, Ordie, Therl and Orville, also
aunt Martha Stalnaker. Sylvia came down. This afternoon, Howard Barton was here
a little while, also uncle Billy. I am going up to aunt Martha's in a little
while. I wrote a letter to Lillie & Arden a little while ago.
Oct.
6, was at the store awhile to-day, papa finished cutting corn. Eva Miller was
up to-day. Mary & I went down to Mr. Barton's to a party to-night. Will
write the names of those present, Joe, Goff, Herbert & Harrison Frymyer,
Moses & Floyd Perkins, Nora & Jessie Dobbins, Bessie Hashman, Mrs. Nan
Bennett & her daughter Myrtle. We had a real nice time. Moses walked home
with me and Harrison came with Mary.
Oct. 7, Tuesday, I was at the store to-day.
father started to Frametown. Ofa Barton started down to Turner to work to-day.

Oct. 8, I stayed at the store again to-day, Mother washed, papa got back from
Frametown this evening about dark.
Thurs.
Oct. 9, cloudy day, it rained some. I went over to Lilly's this morning. I
stopped at Mr. Boone's a few min. also at Gay's.
Friday,
Oct. 10, cloudy most of the day. I helped Lilly make her apple butter to-day, rained a little bit. Lilly & the
children came home with me this evening. Sylvia also came down & stayed all
night. Harley went over and stayed with Birt. Mary & I were at Mr. Barton's
at an apple cutting to-night. Will
write the names of those present in a little while. I was at aunt Martha's for supper to-night. Here are those names,
Joe, Goff, Will, Herbert, &
Harrison Frymyer. Moses & Floyd Perkins, Oscar Dobbins, Dewey Mace. Myrtle &

Bennett. Losie, Addie & Caroline Boone. We had a right nice time.

11, Saturday, Lilly started home this morning, Mary went to help her home. I am going to iron some in a little
while. Mrs. Minney & Clifford were here awhile to-day.

12, Sunday, cloudy day, rained a good bit. Also rained yesterday in the
afternoon, also last night nearly all night. Harley was here awhile to-day,
also Clarence Conley and Howard Barton. Mr. Friend was here for dinner. Mr.
Major Stover was here awhile this evening, also Vessie Minney. Mary was at aunt
Martha's a little while.

13, 1919 Monday, cool morning. I am at the store. Papa & Mary are hauling
wood. Last Sat. Oct. 11, was Lorna
Alice Conley's birthday. She was one year old. I wrote Raymond a letter to-day.
His address is 850 Howard St. Akron, Ohio. Frank is with him. Russell went to
Texas.

14, Tuesday, rainy day. I went over to Mrs. Hewitt's last evening a little
while & got a lot of flowers. Audra & Lorna & Helen, also Sylvia
& little Wanda Leone, were here when I got back. I went up to aunt Martha's
a little while. I was at aunt Martha's for dinner to-day. Clarence came up to
fix the floor to-day.

l5, Wednesday, rainy day. Mother went up to aunt Martha's. Mary & I went
down to the schoolhouse after her books to-day. We went down to Mr. Dobbins'
and stayed a few min.. We stopped at Clarence's and ate dinner. I was up at
aunt Martha's a little while. Sylvia came down and sewed some for me this
afternoon.

16, Thursday, cloudy, been raining most all day. Howard Barton was here after
some butter to-day. I helped Mother saw some wood.

18, Saturday, I stayed in the store this afternoon while father went to Mill. I
got a letter from Lillie Smith, also one from Arden, and a card from
Bayard. I was at aunt Martha's to-day. In fact, I have been up there nearly
every day for awhile. Sylvia & Harley went over to Lilly's this evening.

19, Sunday, nice day, uncle Billy was here awhile to-day. I rode
"Dove", uncle Billy's horse, over to Lilly's this eve. I stayed till
after supper. It was nearly dark when I got home. Vessie Minney came up and
stayed awhile this afternoon, but I was gone and didn't get to see him. They
said he had on his new suit and new shoes. My! What a pity I didn't see him.

20. Monday, nice day. I helped saw wood & helped husk corn in the potato
patch. We were all up at aunt
Martha's this evening. Leroy, Stella & little Harper Miller, were up there
you see. Leroy is a Notary Public and he came over to attend to the business of
aunt Martha & uncle Billy signing their farm over to Sylvia & Harley.
Well, it is about time to milk the cows so I will close.

21, Tuesday, cloudy day, rainy evening. Howard Barton stopped here awhile
to-night. (Born to Mr. & Mrs. Bud Minney a ten lb. boy. Oct. 20, Monday)
also Mrs. Martha James baby died. Born to Mr. & Mrs. Okey Rogers a
daughter, one day this week or last. I was at aunt Martha's a little while
to-day. Mother & I stayed in the store this afternoon while Mary and father
went over to Gay’s after some chickens. papa got Mr. Perkins' wagon. Vernetta
Frame stopped here awhile this morning. Have a cold.

21, Tuesday, I helped saw some wood this morning, rained this evening. Was at
the store this evening.

22, Wednesday, rained nearly all night last night. Well, father and I started
to Frametown this morning early. Mother came up to the store with me. You see I
am going to Lewis Co. to stay with uncle Dexter Smith awhile. It as been an
awfully cloudy day, we stopped at Mr. Carr's this evening, we are going to stay
all night.

23, Thursday, cloudy, rainy day, We came on to Frametown this morning and I
came out on the morning train. Changed cars at Orlando and got to Weston at one
o'clock. Howard Lawson, one of my first cousins was there to meet me. Had a
nice visit with aunt Allie to-day.

24, Fri. still cloudy. I went up to grandma Lawson's this morning. Went to the
store with Mrs. Cox and came back to her house and we played flinch till nearly
eleven o’clock.

25, Saturday, still cloudy, ironed some for aunt Allie this morning. Wrote a
letter to Bayard yesterday, and sent a card home.

26, Sun. uncle Albert came home this morning. Mrs. Cox, grandma, & I went
to Sunday school and preaching this morning. Aunt Allie came home with us.
Rained this afternoon. Arden came over after me in his car this afternoon. My,
but the roads are bad.

27, Mon. cloudy morning, rained all
night, am at aunt Tacey's. I wrote a letter home, also one to Raymond. It is
nearly four o'clock. Lillie is sewing some for aunt Tacey, don't know where
Glen and Ed are. Will close for to-day.

28, Tues. rained some to-day, we washed to-day.

29, Wednesday. We ironed to-day.

30, Thursday, I got a letter from Wilsie Carr to-day, also one from B. H. I wrote a letter to aunt Laura last night.
Oh, forgot to say, Arden and Lillie went to Berlin yesterday. Glen and Ed are
digging potatoes.

31, Friday, rained some to-day. Arden changed shifts to-day. He goes to work at
twelve at night and comes off at eight in the morning.

2, Sunday, colder than usual. uncle Dexter came home this morning. It is the first time I had seen him since I
came out here. I wrote a letter to B. H. D. to-day.

4, Tues. cloudy day, rained some this evening. Lillie and I washed to-day.

5, Wednesday. I got a letter from father to-day, also one from Mary &
Mother, also one from Bannie in it, also got a letter from Bayard that he sent
to Rosedale.

6, Thursday, frosty morn. Lillie and I went up in the field and picked up some
hickory nuts. Glen & Arden got out some coal.

7, Friday, cloudy morning, rained some last night, also some to-day. I got a
letter from aunt Icie to-day. She sent me some pictures. Ed went to Weston with
a load of potatoes this morning. Glen went to Horner and uncle Dexter and Arden
went to the coal bank. Have the blues a little bit to-day. Feel rather lonely.

9, Sunday, lovely sunshiny day. Glen killed a groundhog yesterday and we had
him for dinner to-day. My but he was fine! Lillie and I went to preaching down at the Laurel Lick church this
afternoon. I saw uncle George Smith
but he did speak to me. Don't know why. Dexter went to church also. I don't
feel very good to-day.

10, Monday, nice day. We washed to-day. Hiley Smith, uncle Deck’s boy, was here to-day. He is a large man.
My uncle Ira Lawson, from Buckhannon, was here to-day also. There is someone
here now. A Mr. John something. a soldier
boy. Don’t know how long he is going to stay. My cold isn't much better.
Sent a dollar and a half by uncle Ira to get me some medicine. I got a letter
from Newton Boone to-day. I wrote a letter to Bannie, also a letter to Wilsie
Carr to-day. will have to quit writing and go to work.

11, Tuesday, rained some to-day. John Lowther left this morning. Ed and Glen
killed a groundhog apiece to-day. Also a skunk apiece. I wrote a letter home.

12, Wed. rainy day. Our groundhogs were fine. I got a letter from home, also
one from Raymond. My home folks said for me not to teach school this winter. I
will have to write Raymond a letter. Also Wade Linger. So had better get busy. Oh, yes, I got my medicine uncle Ira got
for me. I almost know it is nasty. To-day is Lillie's birthday. I guess she is
either 29 or 30.

13, Thurs. nice day. I got a letter from B. H. D. and one from home yesterday.
They told me not to teach school this winter. Arden dug coal again to-day. Mr.
Porter Mires came this evening. Cold evening & day. Ed killed a possum
& a skunk. don't know how much game Glen got, didn't hear him say.

14, Friday, cold frosty morning. Was colder last night than has been this fall.
uncle Porter is still here. Glen helped Wayne Bonnet kill his hog. He is gone
to Berlin now. Arden dug coal this morning. He has gone somewhere in his car
now. I got my new winter coat to-day. It is real nice. Arden brought me a new
pair of two buckle artics this morning. cost $1.90. Arden traded cars, has a two seated ford now.

15, Saturday, frosty morning. I was down at Mrs. Bonnets' a few min. to-day.
uncle Porter Mires left this morning.

16, Sunday, frosty morn. Glen killed two groundhogs this morning. We had one
for dinner. Lillie's lover, Mr. Okey Hire, came to see her to-day. Arden took
us car riding this afternoon. Lillie & Okey and myself. We were at Hiley's
a few min. but he wasn't there, he had gone to a meeting. Saw his wife Stella,
and his six children Geneva, Odis, Paul, and I don't remember the names of the
rest of them. All nice little cousins.
Uncle George Smith was here awhile to-day. I saw Albert Smith and Carl to-day,
passed them in the car. Would of like to of spoken to them. I enjoyed my car ride fine. My, oh, my,
what a supper I did eat after I came back. Well, I must quit writing in my
little book of blues and write home, also to B. H. D. So farewell.

17, Monday, lovely day. John Lowther & his sister, Mrs. Vinnie Zinn, and
her little son, Hoy, were here for dinner to-day, left this afternoon. uncle
Porter Mires came this evening. Glen & Arden went over to Weston, got back
between 8 and 9 I think it was. I got a letter from Lilly, a letter from Eva,
& a letter from Raymond to-day.

18, Tuesday, nice day, but chilly. uncle Porter left this afternoon. Lillie
washed to-day. I don't feel very well. Glen & Arden went hunting to-night
but didn't stay long.

19, Wednesday, cold day. frosted a little last night, and snowed a little bit
to-day. Mr. Tom Linger came over to help Ed and Glen dress turkeys to-day. Wish
I knew how they are at home. Well, must quit writing for this time.

20, Thursday, cold frosty morn. We ironed to-day.

21, Fri. cold frosty morning. Oh, I forgot to say, that Miss Julia Corothers
was here a few min. last evening, came to borrow some baking powders. Wayne
Bonnet was here a little while last night. Ed and Glen took the turkeys off
to-day. They dressed 48 head. came to $256.00. I was down at Mrs. Bonnet's a
little while this evening. I got a letter from home yesterday and a letter from
Wilsie Carr. I got a letter from
Newton Boone to-day. Lillie got one from him also. I wrote a letter home
to-night, also one to aunt Icie, and
want
to write one to Lilly in a few min. Everybody here is in bed but me. Glen has
gone hunting. It is fifteen min. after ten o'clock. Well good-night.

22, Saturday, cold day, rained some.
Glen and Arden went to Berlin. Porter Smith came here this eve. He is uncle
Dexter’s oldest son. Lillie, Arden, Glen, & I went to a pie social down at
the Laurel Lick school house to-night. Arden taken us down in his car. He also took the Bonnett family.
We had a very nice time. I saw Carl and Albert Smith down there. They are my
first cousins you know. They both came around and talked to me. Arden only
brought us as far as Mrs. Bonnetts and then he went on to work and Lillie and I
walked on home.

23, Sunday, cool, cloudy day, Porter went home this morning. Adeline Linger
came over to-day. I am not feeling so well to-day. Am rather sad and lonely for
some reason and would like to be at home a little while and be loved a little.
Think I will write a letter to Raymond in a little while. So good-night.

24, Monday, frosty morning. Arden took Lillie and I down as far as Mr. Calvin
Radabough and back in the car to-day. He went after a chain he lost off his car
wheel. Uncle Porter came up with us. I am feeling better now than I did.

25, rainy day, Mr. Tom Linger & Wayne Bonnett came to help butcher a hog
to-day. I got a letter from B. H. D. My cold is a good bit better. Hope it will
continue so.

26, Wed. another cloudy rainy day. uncle Porter left this morning. I am so glad
my cold is getting better. I feel better in every way.

27, Thursday. Thanksgiving day dark, cloudy day. Glen and Ed went hunting, also
Arden and Wayne Bonnett went hunting. lonesome old day.

28, Fri. dark, gloomy day. We washed, also mopped the kitchen floor. Was
disappointed to-day, was expecting some mail but didn't get any. Arden has
taken his car off the road. Will walk to work to-night. guess he will board
down there someplace soon.

29, Saturday, rained some to-day. I ironed, and Lillie baked some pies and
cookies for Arden's pail. got a letter from home and one from Sylvia.

30, Sunday, frosty morn. We were at home all day, Arden came home about two
o'clock. Wayne Bonnett & Edwin Gould were here a little while to-night.

1, Monday, frosty morning. We washed to-day. uncle Porter came up to stay all
night again. He is selling medicine. Arden goes to work at eight o'clock now
& comes off at four.

2, Tuesday, a little bit of frost, cloudy, not very cold. We ironed this
morning, Glen went up to Hiley's. This is all for this time. tra! La!

3, Wednesday, cold frosty morning. Sewed some pieces together to make a comfort
top. Glen came home this evening.

4, Thursday, cold frosty morning, I was down to the mailbox to-day, but didn't
get any mail for myself. I got a letter for Lillie from Newton Boone. It is now
ten min. til 7 o'clock. Arden just now got in from work. I am feeling so much
better than I did. I hope I shall continue to feel better. Well expect I had
better quit writing in this little book of blues and write some letters home.
Glen went up to Mr. Gould's to take the eggs and butter up there. To-day is Eva
Frame's birthday. Yesterday was Oscar Dobbins' birthday.

5, Friday, snowed some last night.

6, Saturday, snowed some again last night, rained to-day. I got a letter from
home to-day. My! how I should like to see them all at home. I got a letter from
Raymond this week.

7, Sunday rainy night, but nice morning. Arden didn't come home to-night. Guess
he will board at Mr. Mead Swisher's.

8, rained a little bit. Tom Linger & Wayne Bonnett helped kill hogs here
to-day. They butchered two fine hogs. One weighed 495 lb. after it was cut up.
I have been having cider to drink. Lillie & I drink it through a quill. ha! ha! To-day is Harley's birthday. he is 25
years old.

9, Tuesday, very warm sultry day. We made the sausage and rendered the lard
to-day. My feet hurt me fierce to-day. Glen went over to Tom Linger's to hunt
last night and to-night also. rained some to-night.

10, Wednesday, snowed a little last night. cold morning. I am going to write a
letter home in a little while, also want to write to Raymond.

11, Thursday, cold frosty morning. We washed to-day. I went down to Mrs.
Bonnett’s to borrow some soap. Didn't get any. Came back and went up to Mr.
Luther Corather's and got a cake of soap. Ed went to Berlin to-day. Arden came
home to-night.

12, Friday, lovely, sunshiny day Glen helped Mr. Luther Corather's butcher
hogs. Arden started to the pump station about 12 o'clock. We ironed to-day. I
got a letter from sister Lilly yesterday. I wrote Bayard a letter a little
while ago. Got his letter yesterday.

13, Saturday, rainy day. I went down to the mailbox to-day. I didn't get any
letters at all for myself or anyone else.

14, Sunday, cold and snowy, snowed last night. Lillie & I went up to Mr.
Luther Corather's to-day, started about eleven o'clock or a little after and
stayed till about half past three. I enjoyed myself fine. To-day is my sister
Sylvia's birthday. She is twenty six years old.

15, Monday, cold snowy morning. Lillie & I washed this morning. Ed went
over to Mr. Jackson's. He will not be home to-night. I got a letter from home
to-day. This is Birt's birthday. He is thirty three years old. Lillie is sewing
on her a waist. I guess I will write my sister Lilly a letter. So good-by
little book of blues. I wish I could confide my entire thoughts to you, but I
dare not.

16, Tuesday, nice sunshiny winter day. We ironed this morning. Ed hasn't come home yet.

17, Wednesday, snowy morning, snowed a whole lot last night. I am going to
write a letter home in a little while.

18, Thursday, snowy day, pretty cold. Arlie Gould was here a little while
yesterday eve.. He bought Glen's Army coat. Gave him $8.00 for it. Glen went to
Berlin to mill in the sled this morning, and Lillie & I went with him. We
stayed in the store till he got ready to come home. Got home a little after two
o'clock. To-day is my birthday. I am 24 years old. getting old, am I not?
Lillie bought me three handkerchiefs to-day, 10 ct. each. Two for my birthday
presents and one for Xmas she said. I got her a handkerchief. I bought me a
pair of gum rubbers, price .80, a cap .50, and a pair of gloves .50, also a
tablet and envelopes. What I bought came to $2.17. They got three yd. of apron gingham to make me an apron. I saw
cousin Albert Smith to-day. I got a letter from Newton Boone, also one from
Raymond to-day. I surely shall remember my birthday this year and what
happened.

19, Friday, snowy day. Glen started to Oswego, New York to-day. It is rather
lonely without him. I got a letter from Wilsie Carr to-day. Lillie finished me
a nice dust cap to-day. She made it for my birthday present. Oh! forgot to say
Lillie got a letter from Newton also yesterday. I didn't say what Glen was
going to New York for, did I? Well he is going to see his girl, Miss Jessie
Robinson.

20, Saturday, cold, still snow on the ground.

21, Sunday, cold day, Wilma Bonnett came up this morning & stayed all day.
We had lots of fun.
Dec.
22, Monday, still some snow on the ground. I was down at Mrs. Bonnett's a good
while to-day. Went after the mail & the mailman hadn't come yet. I saw
uncle George Smith & Albert to-day & talked to them a long time. Arden
came home this evening. He bought Wilma Bonnett a nice ring for Xmas. He said
it cost $4.50. Wilma is thirteen years old. her birthday is the 20th of June.
she said.

23, Tuesday, forgot to say, I got a letter from home yesterday, and one from B.
H. D. to-day. I was down at Mrs. Bonnett's a little while again to-day. Mailman
was slow again. Arden went to work in his car this morning. Guess he is going
to leave it down there. Wrote a letter home, also one to Bayard. Well, I am
tired of writing.

24, Wednesday, I ironed this morning & baked some pies this afternoon. and
Lillie baked a cake.

25, Thurs. Christmas day. snowed a little bit yesterday, also to-day, a little.
Lillie & I went up to uncle George Smith's this morning & stayed till
evening. We met Carl but he was going hunting and didn't get back while we were
there. Etta Ramsburg & her husband Everett & her two children, Lester,
two years old, and Roy, a little
past two months old. Lester's birthday is 15th Oct. & Roy's, 25th. Albert
was all home all day. I was glad to see aunt Mary. Everett bought Arden's car
last night, gave $300.00. Arden bought Coke Lawson's Overland for $600.00.
Lillie & I got a Xmas card apiece from Newton to-day. Ed gave me a dollar
for a Xmas present to-night.

26, Friday, I got a card from Sylvia to-day.

27, Saturday, I made me an apron to-day. Oh no, I made it yesterday, and Lillie
made her a waist. Arden came home to-day in his new car. Brent Swisher &
another boy was with him. They only stayed a little while. We baked some pies.
I got a letter from Lilly to-day.

28, Sunday, snowed some to-day. Bell Morrison was here to-day. I went down as
far as Mrs. Bonnett's with her when she started home. I went down to borrow a
catalog. Wilma & Lottie came apiece with me. We had a whole lot of fun with
the sled. Uncle Porter Myers came up here this evening. I am feeling very well
now, if I just stay that way. I would love to see my home folks.

29, Monday, snowed a little to-day, yesterday was Glen's birthday. He was 27
yrs. old. I got a letter from home to-day. Sun shone some to-day.

30, Tuesday, uncle Porter left this morn. snowed some. We washed this morning.
I wrote a letter home to-night also one to Newton. Well it is bedtime.

31, Wednesday, Thawed a good bit to-day. We ironed this morning. Lillie baked some pies and cake. Lillie and I went down
to Mrs. Bonnett's to-night. I went after the mail to-day.

1, 1920 cloudy morning, snowed some. I am going to write Lilly a letter in a
little while, also Wilsie Carr.

2, Friday, snowed some again to-day.
Claude & Ofa Morrison were here to-day. Stayed till evening. I think they
are both nice looking boys. I got a letter from Raymond to-day.

3, Saturday. uncle Dexter went to Berlin to-day. Mr. John Wagner, an old
bachelor, came home with him. I went down to the mailbox to-day.

4, Sun. snowed some again to-day. Mr. Luther Corather's, & his wife Esta

Mrs. Frank Boram died this evening about 6 o'clock. I missed the mailman to-day
and Lillie missed him yesterday.

Mrs. Frank Borum's funeral. She was buried to-day. I went after the mail

Berlin to get the horses shod this morning. He has gone up to Mr. Gould's to

Arden & Brent Swisher were here to-day. Just left a little while ago. It is
15 min. after three now. Arden brought his car as far as Mrs. Bonnett's. Glen
went down with them. He is going to meeting to-night. We ironed this morning.
Ed sold Spot the cow & her calf this morning. He got $175 for her & the
calf. I forgot who he sold her to.

15, Thursday, cold day. I got four letters to-day, one from home, one from
Lilly, one from Wilsie, one from Bayard. I also got the goods for my dress. It
is all wool French serge 5 yd $1.79 per yd. 12 yd. silk messaline $1.15. We
have been playing flinch quite often the last week or two. Lillie & I made
us a deck of cards out of pasteboard. Lillie, Glen & I play.

17, Saturday, forgot to say I wrote a letter to Bayard yesterday. Cold morning
snowed some to-day. I went down to Mr. Tom Morrison's this morning to get Bella
to make my new dress. I went part of the way on the sled with Glen. He went on
to Berlin. I stopped a few min. at Mr. Ed Swisher's to warm as I went up.
Bella, Margerite Swisher & myself went to Berlin to meeting to-night. They
are having protracted meeting down there now. I like Mr. Morrison and family
fine. Bella made my dress partly.

Jan 18, cold morning, snowed some this evening & night. Bella, Margerite
& I went to meeting again this morning, at Berlin. I came back up with
Bella & stayed till about four or after then came on home. She gave me one
of her pictures.

19, Mon. thawing a good bit to-day. snow nearly all gone. Mr. Tom Linger &
Kiley Smith, came to help butcher the old sow this morning. Mrs. Milford &
her son, David, came after a turkey gobbler to-day. They live on Jesse's Run.
They came in a Ford car. Mr. St. Clair was here a while also. He is one of the
Census Takers. He said there were 78,000 census takers over the U. S. A. The
old sow weighed 544 lb. I forgot to say Lottie Bonnett was here a little while
Sat. Wilma & Lottie were here Sunday but they went home before I came.

20, Tuesday, rained some to-day. I went to the mailbox. Wayne Bonnett was here
a little while to-night. Ed went to Weston, Glen went hunting. We rendered the
lard and made the sausage. Had 6 gal. sausage, 8 gal. lard. I wrote a letter

24, Saturday, another rainy day. I ironed some to-day, Claude went home this
morning. I got a letter from home, a letter from Aunt Laura, & a card from
Vernetta F. to-day. We had our turtle for dinner.

birthday. She would have been 29 yrs. old if she were living. Uncle George
Smith was here to-day, Arden came home this morning. He goes to work at 4
o'clock in the evening and off at 12, at night, this month. Wayne Bonnett was
here a while to-night. I have a boil on the back of my neck.

two to get a drink as they came from Mr. Taylor's across the hill here, They
went over there to attend meeting at the Valley Church. Glen & I played
flinch to-night, he beat me 6 to 4. Too bad wasn't it?

morning & left a little while ago. It is almost half past four. I must quit
writing & go milk. Oh, yes, Flossie, the old white cow, had a nice little

8, cold morning. Glen took me to Horner in the sled this morning. Plenty of
snow on the ground. My how I hated to leave them all. I cried like the baby I
am. I sent part of my clothes by
parcel post from Horner. Had to wait a good while at Horner for the train. got
to Weston about half past one. Of course I went to uncle Albert's. Was there
all night and till after dinner next day.

9, nice day. snow nearly all gone. I was up at grandma's a few min. to-day.
Alberta & Eugene went with me. aunt Allie gave me an apron. Paul carried my
suitcase up to the depot for me. Left Weston about 1:30 stopped at Roanoke. My
cousin; Virginia Smith was there to meet me. I stayed all night at Porter
Smiths, had a nice time. They played the Victrola, and Virginia played the
piano.

19, Wednesday saw Clifton King at the depot. Helen went with me to the depot. I
left Roanoke a little after 8. changed cars at Orlando. Had to wait 3 hrs.
arrived at Frametown 2:30 or maybe later. Papa was there to meet me. Stopped at
Mr. Stouts hotel and eat my dinner. father brought Dove for me to ride and he
rode Jumbo. cloudy day, rained some. It was 5 min. after 7 when we got to
Rosedale. It was seven when we got home. My, oh my! how tired we were.

went to aunt Martha's for dinner, Mrs. Ivy Schoolcraft & her little son
Russell are up there. She was here a little while this morning. Aunt Martha

of Rosedale. wrote to Raymond & Bessie this morning. uncle Billy was here a
little while this morning. I want to write a letter to Mina Workman in a little

4, Easter Sunday. Well, we certainly had all the eggs we could eat this
morning. rather cloudy this morn, Mrs. Ivy Schoolcraft & her little son
Russell came over to-day. All of them except father, Mary & I, went up to
Sylvia's for dinner. Mary & I went up after dinner. Birt & Harley came
over this morning. Lilly, Birt & children started home about half past
four. Ivy went down to Mrs. Barton's this evening.

10, Saturday frosty morning. Sylvia was here a little while. Mary has gone to
Rosedale. forgot to say father stayed at home Thursday night. I hope I will get
a whole lot of mail to-day. Well I got three letters, also got my hat, but I

Billy. We weighed the baby. She weighed 26 1/2 lb..

& Icie Reeder came over this morning. So we called Mother & she came
home. aunt Martha, uncle Billy, Sylvia & Harley were here for dinner also.

14, Wed. cold day. Well Father is moving the store goods to Rosedale. He bought

helping father move. He has his mule team. We has one hen off with 13 little

Mother & Sylvia & Little Leone went over to Lilly's. Mother went to get
some buttermilk. She came home this afternoon. I was up at the store this
afternoon. uncle Billy was here this evening. I got a letter from Raymond

to take another load of goods for father. They took some dishes, a bedstead,

with them. They have taken the last load from the store. Well I am going to

26, Monday, rainy day, Father went to Rosedale this morning. Mary went up to
Sylvia's to get her dress made. She, Mary I mean, went over to R. this evening.

27, Tues. cloudy, rained some to-day. Mother has gone up to Sylvia's. I am
going in a little while. I just
finished reading a good book a little while ago. The title of it was "The
Duke's Secret" by Charlotte Braeme. To-day is little Wanda Leone's
birthday, She is one year old.

28, Wednesday, cold, windy. Mother is helping Sylvia wash to-day. I was up
there a while. I went down to Mrs. Barton's a little while this evening.

29, Thurs. rained a little to-night. Mother & I washed. Sylvia & Baby
was here a while. I was up there a while this afternoon. We had a mess of
greens for supper. I got a letter from Ira Gainer to-day.

30, Friday, rained a little this morn. uncle Billy & Little Leone were here
a while this morning. I have been ironing. I wrote a letter to Ira yesterday
and finished one to Lillie Smith to-day. I went to Rosedale this eve.. Mary,
Tessie Nolder & I went down to Okey Dobbins to-night and listened to the
Victrola play. Oscar Dobbins is boarding there and of course we saw him. Rained
hard to-night.

1, Saturday, nice day. Tessie Nolder, Mary and I all came over home this
morning. Tessie took my picture with her Kodak. We all went up to Sylvia's
awhile this evening.

& baby were here a little while this morning. Mother went up there for
dinner. uncle Billy's cow, Reddie, had a calf this evening. Oscar Dobbins and
Herbert Frymyer were here this afternoon. Mr. & Mrs. Reeder and little Ray
were at Harley's to-day. Mary, Tessie & I went to Rosedale this evening. I
took Tessie's picture & she took Mary with her Kodak as we went over. We
went to Young people's meeting to-night. Mary & I went up to Mr. Beatty's
with Tessie a little while this evening.

He rode Jumbo over and I rode him back. I was at Sylvia's a little while this

4, Tues. Mother and I washed this morning & worked in the garden some
afternoon. Oh, yes, Icie Reeder, aunt Martha & Orpha Nicholas were here a
little while yesterday evening. uncle Billy brought aunt Martha home from
Lilly's yesterday. Howard Barton
hauled us a load of wood this evening.

5, Wed. Mother went over to Lilly's this morning, I was up at Sylvia's a while
to-day. We went down to Mrs. Barton's a while this afternoon. she was here a while also.

6, Thurs. nice day, I stayed at home last night by myself I was at Sylvia's for
dinner to-day, Mother came home this evening. Howard brought us another load of
wood yesterday evening.

7, Friday, nice day, a little cloudy. Mother went to Rosedale this morning Mary
came home with her. I got three letters to-day, one from Eva Shaffer, one from
Wilsie Carr, and one from Bessie Hashman. Sylvia was here a while to-day, also
baby Leone.

8, Sat. nice day, I guess they are going to have a pie supper at Tanner
to-night, also at Rosedale. I am going to Rosedale. Howard Barton was here a
little while. Mary went back to Rosedale about noon to-day, I went out to Mr.
Perkins to mill this afternoon. It rained this evening. I went to the box
supper at Rosedale to-night. I certainly had a fine time. They made up $86.00.
Mary & I didn't take any box. I got a letter from Lilly to-night.

9, 1920, Sun. lovely day, We, Mary & I went to Sunday school at the
Rosedale Church this morning. father went over home. We went down to Timothy
Knob Church to Sunday school this afternoon. Of course Tessie Nolder was with
us all these places. We stopped at Dallas Gumms and listened to the Victrola as
we came from Sunday school. We went to Young people's meeting at the church
to-night. Had a nice time. Howard Barton and Losie Boone were married to-day,
Mr. Charley Riddle married them.

10, Monday, rather cloudy, I came over home this morning. Father went back
to
his store. Mary isn't very well. Am afraid she is going to be ill. I helped
Mother plant some corn and beans in the garden this morning. I guess they are
going to serenade Howard & Losie to-night. Mother and I are going down if
it doesn't rain. Well, we went down to Mrs. Barton's to-night and stayed
awhile. There wasn't very many there. Mr. & Mrs. Dobbins, Jessie, Nora
& Oscar, & Vessie Minney.

11, Tuesday, nice day, I was at Mrs. Barton's to-day, took old Kate down to get
her shod. stopped at Clarence's a little while as I came back. Went and picked
a mess of greens this evening.

12, Wed. rainy, Oh, yes, I, & Mother planted my peanuts yesterday
evening. Aunt Martha is pretty ill now.
Mother and I are going to stay up there to-night. Vessie Minney was there
awhile also.

14, Friday, nice day, I went over to Lilly's this morning. I stopped at
Sylvia's also at Mr. Collin's as I went over.

15, Saturday, nice day, frosted last night. Lilly, Birt, Orel & Garnet all
came home with me this evening, or rather Lilly & the children did. Birt
only came as far as Sylvia's. Harley went over with him. Sylvia and baby were
here a while this eve.. We all stopped up there a while.

Harley & Leone were here awhile this morning. Clarence, Audra & Helen
& Lorna came up this afternoon. They have all gone up to Sylvia's except,
Mary, Papa, and Clarence & I. Mary has started now. I am going in a little
while. We had green currant pie for dinner. Mary & I went to Rosedale this
evening. We were at Mr. Beatty's a little while this evening. We went to Young
people's meeting to-night. I was on the program for select reading. Of course I
read.

17, Monday, nice day, I am feeling awfully bad to-day. Father brought some
potatoes over from home. our dog, Dodger, came with him. I had to bring the
mules home. Dodger went back to Rosedale about midnight to-night.

18, Tuesday, cloudy, rained some. I was at Sylvia's awhile to-day. Mrs. Reeder
and her grandson-in-law, Ivy's husband, Irvin Schoolcraft, and little Ray
Vaughan, were here awhile this evening, also uncle Billy and Eva Miller. Eva
went home with aunt Jane Reeder. I got a letter from Lillie Smith, also one
from Wilma & Lottie Bonnett and a card from Eva Shaffer. Ofa Barton brought
them up to me.

19, Wednesday, rained some to-day. I am not feeling very well. Mother washed
some to-day. Sylvia, Harley, & Leone came down this evening. They left
Little Leone with Mother & I and they went an down to Clarence's after the
corn planter. Uncle Dow Conley is down there, He came to-day.

20, Thursday, rainy day, uncle Dow was here a little while. him & Mother
went up to uncle Billy's for dinner. Uncle Billy came down with them. Uncle Dow
has started home. Mother & I knotted out a comfort to-day. She has gone to
Mrs. Workman's to get some sweet potatoes plants. Think I will go up to
Sylvia's after while.

21, Friday. I was at Sylvia's to-day. I ironed some. Mother was at Mrs.
Barton's a while to-day.

22, Saturday, nice day, Mary came home this morning, I went up to help Sylvia
get dinner. Mary was there for dinner also. She has gone over to Lilly's now.
She rode "Dove". Mother went down to Mrs. Barton's this afternoon.
Eva Miller and Oscar Dobbins were married this evening. They went over to Mr.
Charley Riddle & he married them. I went down to the serenade to-night.
Mother was already down there. There were several people there. I enjoyed
myself fine. I stopped a Clarence's awhile as I went down. Mother & I stopped
at Mr. Dobbin's a little while as we came home.

One from Raymond and one from Bannie Dodrill. Mother is up at Sylvia's. Father
is laying down. I went over with Mary to Rosedale this evening. Sylvia was down

24, Monday, rainy day, Mary & I went down town to Okey Dobbins this
afternoon, I stopped at Mr. Emery Rollison's a little while, and bought a song
book. My cow, "Cutie" had a calf to-day. There wasn't very many at
Mrs. Smith’s party. She lives in the
three rooms in the upper part of our house.
