(Cutie)- July 22, 1920- age 6 yrs. got my household papers this month. (Sept.) for first time. (Sub. for 2 yr.) brought Cutie over Monday, Sept. 27 and put her in C. N. Snodgrass's pasture. Took Cutie out of pasture, Nov. 15, 1920

 

July 1, 1920

 

July 1, Thursday, rained some to-day. Sylvia went to Rosedale this afternoon.

Mother and I kept Leone. I don't see why I don't get more mail. I do so love to get mail.

 

July 2, Friday, rained most all morning. Mother is up at Sylvia's now. Uncle Billy and Aunt Martha went over to Lilly's this morning. Well, I guess I will write a letter or two.

 

July 3, Saturday, cloudy morning. I went over to Rosedale this morning. It rained real hard this afternoon. Didn't have a very good time. Mary & I went out to the church to a box supper to-night. Mr. Oscar Hawkins bought my box, and Mr. Altizer bought Mary's. he also took her home & talked to her awhile.

 

July 4, Sunday, nice day. I came over home this evening. Mary, Mrs. Beryl Wilson & Bonnie Rollyson came apiece with me.

 

July 5, Monday. I was up at Sylvia's twice to-day. Mother & Sylvia went to Rosedale this afternoon. I took care of the baby.

 

July 6, Tues. cloudy most all day, rained a little bit. Mother & I washed to-day. I was up at Sylvia's a little while. Mother is down at Mrs. Barton's now.

 

July 7, Wednesday, rainy day, Sylvia, Harley, and baby were here awhile this afternoon. I read most of the day. Just finished a letter to Myrtha Conklin a few min. ago.

 

July 8, Thurs. cloudy part of the day, rained to-night. Mary & Mrs. Beryl Wilson came over this morning & stayed till late this evening. We went up to Sylvia's awhile this afternoon & she came down with us. We had our first mess of green beans for this year, to-day. A very sad accident happened this evening late. Little Hans Turner, Vinnie and Shirley's son, was killed. They were playing baseball, and he was watching them. He tried to climb upon some kind of a wooden structure that was turned up on end and it fell over on him and broke his neck. He was 5 years 10 mo. and 8 da. old. Was born (Aug. 20, 1914).

 

July 9, Friday, nice day. Mother & I were at Rosedale to the funeral to-day. We were down at Mr. Shirley Turner's house quite awhile. Mr. Lida Harvey held the funeral services. They were held at the church. He certainly was a beautiful little corpse. They sure had a lovely casket for him. Mr. Bartlett from Sutton was the undertaker. There was a large crowd at the funeral services.

 

July 10, Saturday, Mother, Sylvia and baby went over to Mr. Reeder's, Silas & his wife, Effie, & their little daughter, Tressie, are over there. They came yesterday. I ironed this morning, and went to mill out at Mr. Perkins this afternoon. Mr. Reeder was here a while Thursday morning. Sylvia & baby stopped here awhile. Uncle Billy was down here a time or two to-day.

 

July 11, Sunday, rainy morning, Nella, Ethel & Russell Conley, our first cousins, came down to Clarence's yesterday evening. Russell went over to Mr. Warren Knott's this morning, I guess him & Marie Knotts will be married Wed.. Mary & Father came over home this morning. Mary & I went over to Mr. Reeder's this morning, then we went up to Mrs. Icie Reeder's & stayed till after dinner. Mr. Silas & Effie Reeder & their little daughter Tressie, came over home with Sylvia & Harley. We went up to Sylvia's this evening. I stayed till after supper. They all of us except Uncle Billy, Aunt Martha, Papa & Mamma, went down to Mrs. Barton's to listen to the Victrola. Audra, Clarence, & the children & Nella & Ethel all went down with us.

 

July 12, Monday, nice day. Sylvia & baby were down here awhile this afternoon. Father and Mary went back to Rosedale this morning. I went down to Clarence's this afternoon and Nella & Ethel came home with me. Then we all went up to Sylvia's for supper.

 

July 13, Tuesday, nice day, Sylvia & baby were here awhile this morning. Nella and Ethel went down to Clarence's this morning. Aunt Martha is here now. I am going to write my cousin Lillie Smith a letter in a few min.. Silas & Effie & Tressie started home yesterday. Harley, Harold & Hope went as far as Frametown with them. Silas is going to move to Louisiana. Ethel & Nella went over to Mr. Knotts this afternoon. Mr. Knotts son came after them.

 

July 14, Wednesday, rained this afternoon. Sylvia & baby were here awhile this morning. Aunt Martha was here for supper, Harley was here a little while also. Russell, Marie, Ethel & Nella started home this afternoon. I don't know whether Russell and Marie were married yesterday to-day. We didn't see them to-day.

 

July 15, Thursday, rainy day. I got a letter from Private Charles Bohac, N. S. M. C. Port Au Prince, Haiti, Monday. I got his name out of the Toledo Blade and wrote to him. His home is in Wisconsin.

 

July 16, Friday, Grandma Perkins, Mr. Elsworth Perkins' mother died this morning. Mary came over home this morning & went back this evening. Mary & I were at Sylvia's. Sylvia and baby were down here this afternoon. We had chicken for dinner. Mrs. Vernetta Frame was here yesterday afternoon. I went over to Lilly's this evening. I stopped at Mr. Brady's a little while, also at Mr. Keener's a while. Had blackberry cobbler for supper.

 

July 17, Saturday, nice day. Gay Wilson, and her five children and Mrs. Upton were at Lilly's this afternoon. We stopped there a little while. I came home this evening. I brought a kitten home with me from Lilly's. I stopped at Sylvia's a little while.

 

July 18, Sun. lovely day, most of the time. Sprinkled a little bit. Mother & I were at Sylvia's for dinner. Icie & Hope Reeder were there, also Harold Reeder, & Mr. John Bennett. Hope was here a little while. Orpha & Ordie Nicholas, Dollie, Thelma, May, Madaline, & Glenore Snodgrass were here a little while this evening. Orpha came to borrow meal.

 

July 19, Monday, nice day. We picked some apples & some berries this morn.

 

July 20, Tuesday, nice day, Mother went over to Lilly's this morning. Audra & the children came up this morning & stayed till evening. Audra came up to sew.

 

July 21, Wednesday. Mother & I were at Sylvia's to-day a little while. Us & Sylvia & the baby went over to Mr. Leroy Miller's to pick blackberries to-day. Sylvia & baby rode Dove. We got about five gal. apiece. I also went to Rosedale this evening. Rode Jumbo. Mary came home this evening.

 

July 22, Thurs. We washed this morning & picked some apples this afternoon. Mary went back to Rosedale this evening.

 

July 23, Friday, hot day. Uncle Billy & Sylvia went to Rosedale this morning to take the chickens off. Ours came to $14.00 & some cents. We had 24 chickens. They had more than we did. Clarence was here a few min. I took care of Leone this morning. I was up at Sylvia's a little while, extremely hot day.

 

July 24, Sat., very hot, John and Bertin Bennett were here a little while to-day. rained this afternoon.

 

July 25, Sunday, Father came home this morning. Sylvia & baby were here for dinner.  Clarence & Helen were here awhile.

 

July 26, Monday, Mother went up to Sylvia's. Clarence & Audra went to Rosedale this morning. We took care of Helen & Lorna.

 

July 27, Tuesday, nice day. Audra, Sylvia, Harley, Harold Reeder & myself all went over to Leroy Miller's to pick berries. Sylvia & Audra & I rode horseback. I got between 3 & 4 gal.

 

July 28, Wed. nice day, Mary & Gladys Skidmore came over from Rosedale this morning. I went over with them this evening & took over some apples & eggs.

 

July 29, Thursday, nice day, Mother & I washed to-day, also went on the hill to the orchard and carried down some apples, and partly filled the apple rack. Sylvia, Leone & Uncle Billy were down here two or three times to-day. Wanda Leone is sick.

 

July 30, Friday, nice hot day. I went to Rosedale this morning after medicine for Leone. I was up there for dinner. Mrs. Icie Reeder is up there. Sylvia & Leone & Uncle Billy were down here this morning. Audra & children are here now, Audra is sewing.

 

July 31, Saturday, Mrs. George Collins gave birth to a daughter last Saturday 24. Myrtha Conklin and Fairell Boone were married July 25, Sunday.

 

August 1, Sunday, cloudy, rained a little bit. Birt and Garnet came over to-day. Sylvia & Wanda Leone were here for dinner, Father and Mary came over from Rosedale this morning. Mrs. Dobbins and Mrs. Siller Dobbins and her little girl, Inez were here for dinner also. Okey Dobbins and Lewis Bishop were here a little while. Vessie Minney was here for supper.

 

Aug. 2, Monday, nice day. Papa and Mary went back to Rosedale this morning.  Mother & I taken off some apples. I went to Shock this morning. Stopped at Mr. Ofey Staver's store a few min. Went up to Birt's for dinner. Aunt Martha, Sylvia & Wanda were here awhile.

 

Aug. 3, Tuesday, We washed to-day. Hope Reeder was here a little while, also Clarence Conley. Aunt Martha, Uncle Billy and Sylvia & Leone were here awhile also.

 

Aug. 4, Wednesday, nice day. I was at Sylvia's.

 

Aug. 5, Thursday, Sylvia & I were at Rosedale to-day, she taken chickens and I taken a basket of eggs. Mary came home with us.

 

Aug. 6. Fri. I went to Rosedale again to-day to take some sweet apples over to Siller Dobbins. Mary went over with me. I also taken some small cucumbers down to Mrs. Beryl Wilson, for Sylvia.

 

Aug. 7, Saturday, forgot to say, Mother went over to Lilly's last evening. Lilly & Garnet and Orel came home with her this evening. Mary also came home. Sylvia & Wanda Leone came down to stay all night with us also. So you see there was quite a bunch of us.

 

Aug. 8, Sun. Mary & I went to Rosedale early this morning. We took Jumbo over for Father to ride to Sutton and Gassaway on business. We went up to Mr. Beatty's and listened to their new Victrola awhile this evening. Mrs. Smith went with us. We were at the church to song services to-night. It rained some.

 

Aug. 9, Monday, I was up at Mrs. Upton's a few min. after buttermilk. Was also at Mrs. Siller Dobbins. We were at a banquet at the church to-night. It was held in honor of the Gilmer & Braxton Co. boards of education. Mr. Bailey, the county Supt. of Gilmer Co. was there also. They are planning to put up a graded school at Rosedale. Sure hope they do. Mr. Albert West was there also. We had some fine speeches and some nice music, and lots of good things to eat. Siller Dobbins and her baby, Vera Inez, stayed with us all night. Okey has gone away to work. Mrs. Smith stayed with Mrs. Bitha Upton last night.

 

Aug. 10, Tuesday, rainy most all day. It also rained quite a bit yesterday. Papa came home to-day, I came on over home and Mother and Sylvia went over to Rosedale. Sylvia came back, but Mother is going to stay all night. I kept the baby for Sylvia. She will stay with me to-night. Harley came home from Sutton to-night. He stayed here all night also. We bought Mr. Cam Rollyson's dresser, and window blinds, also a bedstead and a pair of quilting frames.

 

Aug. 11, Wednesday, rained some, Sylvia, Harley & the baby were here for dinner. Uncle Billy was here awhile.

 

Aug. 12, Thurs. rained some to-day. I went over to Lilly's to-day to help cook for the threshers. I rode "Dove". We had twelve there for dinner and ten for supper. I came home late this evening.

 

Aug. 13, Friday, rainy most all day. Uncle Billy went to Rosedale this morning. He rode "Jumbo", Sylvia, Wanda Leone and Uncle Billy were here a little while. Will Frymyer was here a little while Wed. night.

 

Aug. 14, Saturday, rained some to-day, I went to Rosedale this afternoon, I took some beans to Mrs. Siller Dobbins. I watched the ball game awhile, Perkins & Gip played. I stayed at Mrs. Lucy Prines for supper. Then her and her two little daughters, Ruth, & Agnes, came home with me. I carried Agnes on my lap, and Ruth behind me, on Jumbo.

 

Aug. 15, Sunday, rained a little to-day. Papa & Mary came home this morning. Sylvia & baby were here awhile yesterday evening. Her & Harley went over to Mr. Reeder's to stay all night. Harley is going to start to Sutton to-day to work. We all went up to Sylvia's for dinner. Mrs. Barton, Eva Dobbins, & her two sons, Glen & Berlin Miller, were here awhile to-day, also were at Sylvia's. Sylvia & Uncle Billy were here for supper. I wrote three letters to-night. Well, I am sleepy will close for to-night.

 

Aug. 16, Monday, Mary & Papa went back to Rosedale this morning. I took Lucy's children over home on Jumbo. She walked. I went over to Mrs. Nathan Shamblin's to-day. Stayed till after dinner.

 

Aug. 17, Tuesday, well, I went to Rosedale again to-day. I went to get Jumbo shod. I went from Rosedale on over to Lilly's. Then back home.

 

Aug. 18, Wed. I forgot to say it rained some Monday. I was up at Sylvia's a few min to-day. We canned 3 gallon of peaches to-day. Mother and Sylvia went out to Mr. Perkin's yesterday & got some peaches, Sylvia got a bu. and Mother one. We canned 4 1/2 gal. in all. I canned 6 qt. of beets to-day. I am awfully tired. Mother is in bed. I am going to bed in a few min.

 

Aug. 19, Thursday, Mother washed to-day. We took care of Leone till Sylvia went to Rosedale. I got my traveling bag and 2 piece middy dress to-day.

 

Aug. 20, Friday, I went up to Mr. Elsworth Perkins to-day and stayed till evening. Had a real nice time. I stopped at Cleo Reip's as I came back.

 

Aug. 21, Sat. Mother went to Lilly's to-day. It rained yesterday. Sylvia & Wanda Leone stayed with me to-night.

 

Aug. 22, Sunday, rainy day, Mary came home this morning. Mother came home this evening. Sylvia & baby stayed down here all day. Uncle Billy was here awhile.

 

Aug. 23, Monday, Mother went down to Mrs. Barton's this morning, didn't stay long. Mrs. Workman, her son Bennie, and her daughter, Mrs. Cleo Rogers and her two children, Ray, and Retha, were here to-day. Clarence Conley was here a little while also. Aunt Martha was here a while. She went down to Clarence's this afternoon. May Snodgrass was here a little while this evening.

 

Aug. 24, Tuesday, cloudy most all day. I helped Sylvia pick soup beans this afternoon. Mother took care of Leone, Clarence was here a while. Vessie Minney is here to-night. I have an awful cold. I want to write Lettie Hewitt a letter. I didn't get to write my letter to-night.

 

Aug. 25, Wed. nice day. I helped Sylvia pick beans again to-day. Uncle Billy helped us. We took Wanda Leone with us on the hill to pick beans. Hope Reeder was here a while to-day. My, but I am tired.

 

Aug. 26, Thursday, nice day. I helped Sylvia pick beans again to-day. My, oh my, how tired we were.

 

   Aug. 27, Friday, it rained last night, also rained some this morning. We took care of the baby awhile to-day. I taken her up home.

 

Aug. 28, Saturday, Mother went to Rosedale this morning. I ironed & made a cake. Mary came home this evening & Mother stayed over there. I forgot to say, Vessie Minney was here a while last night.

 

Sunday, Aug. 29, Mary & I and Vessie Minney went over to Oak Grove Church to the dedication. It is about ten miles from here, on yon side of Perkins. I rode Vessie's horse. He rode Okey Stump's and Mary rode Jumbo. There was lots of people there and we had a nice time. We stopped at Mr. Bill Cox's awhile. I ate supper at Mrs. Barton's. Mother came home this morning.

 

Aug. 30, Monday, Oh, I forgot to say it rained yesterday evening. I stopped a little while at Clarence Conley's yesterday evening. Mary went back to Rosedale this morning. It rained a little bit to-day. Sylvia & baby were here a little while to-night. Also Vessie Minney. Harley came home Saturday from Sutton, but left again to-day. He went to Turner to work this time.

 

Aug. 31, Tues. We made our apple butter to-day. We pealed and cored our apples yesterday. Hope Reeder, Dollie, Thelma, & Madaline Snodgrass were all here awhile this evening. It rained awfully hard this evening.

 

Sept. 1, Wed. Sylvia & Wanda Leone were here a little while this morning. Mrs. Barton and Ofa were here awhile this afternoon. They are helping pick beans for Sylvia. Mother is up at Sylvia's now. I got a letter from Haiti this morning.

 

Sept. 2, Thursday. Nice day. We washed this morning & picked our soup beans this afternoon. I was at Sylvia's awhile this eve.. Sylvia & Wanda Leone are going to stay here to-night. Clarence Conley was here awhile yesterday afternoon.

 

Sept. 3, Friday, nice day. I ironed to-day.

 

Sept. 4, Sat. I went over to Rosedale this afternoon. I stayed all night with Mrs. Siller Dobbins.

 

Sunday, Sept. 5, Mary & I went to Sunday school this morning. We were at Mr. John Upton's for dinner. Father went home this morning. He will stay over there to-night. Mary & I will stay here at the store.

 

Sept. 6, Monday, forgot to say it rained yesterday afternoon. I came home this morning. Papa went over to Rosedale. It rained this afternoon. Mrs. Eva Dobbins was here a little while. She came after beans and butter. Sylvia & baby were here also.

 

Sept. 7, Tuesday, nice day, we made our pickle beans to-day. I kept Wanda Leone this afternoon and Sylvia & Mother went on the hill to pick beans for "Sylvia". ha! I am not feeling very well at present

 

Sept. 8, Wednesday, Mother & I were up at Sylvia's for dinner. Mother helped Sylvia pick beans and I helped Aunt Martha get dinner and took care of Wanda Leone. Hope Reeder is up there now. I guess Sylvia is going to Rosedale this afternoon. We will have to take care of the baby.

 

Sept. 9, Thursday, cloudy morning, rained some. Hope Reeder was here a while yesterday. Uncle George Smith came this morning. He stayed over at the store last night. Mother and him & I went up to Sylvia's this morning. They are up there yet. To-day is Mother's birthday. She is 59 yr. old.

 

Sept. 10, Friday. We washed to-day. Uncle George was here for dinner. He is going to stay with us to-night. Aunt Martha was here to-day, also, Sylvia & baby. Sylvia went down to Clarence's a little while this evening. Vessie Minney was here a while to-night.

 

Sept. 11, Saturday, Uncle George & Uncle Billy went over to Lilly's this morning. I went to Rosedale, and Mary came home. I am going to stay with Mrs. Siller Dobbins to-night. Her & her little girl, Inez, were up here at our store this evening.

 

Sept. 12, Sunday, it stormed hard last night. Okey Dobbins came home about eleven o'clock last night. I went to Sunday school out here at the church this morning. The new preacher preached after Sunday school. I don't remember his name. Father is sick. He has the grip. I was at young people's meeting to-night, at the church.

 

Sept. 13, Monday, Sylvia was over this morning. Mary came over this evening. Father is no better.

 

Sept. 14, Tuesday, nice day. I forgot to say that Uncle George went home last Sunday morning, or rather he started.

 

Sept. 15, Wednesday, nice day, Sylvia came over this afternoon. I came over home with her. Mother & I stayed with her to-night. Uncle Billy & Aunt Martha have gone over to keep house for Lilly & Birt till they go up to Birt's fathers on a visit guess they will start to-morrow. Rained some to-night.

 

Sept. 16, Thursday, Mother & I are at home now. We stayed with Sylvia again to-night.

 

Sept. 17, Friday, Mother & I are at home to-day. Sylvia & baby were here also Mrs. Henry Cottrill, & Clarence Conley. We stayed with Sylvia again to-night. I forgot to say that Lilly, Birt & children didn't start on their trip till (Friday) to-day.

 

Sept. 18, Saturday, Sylvia went to Rosedale to-day & we kept the baby for her. We are going to stay with Sylvia again to-night.

 

Sept. 19, Sun. I went up to Mr. Dalton Reip's to-day. They had company. Mr. & Mrs. Ira Reip. Mr. & Mrs. Holden Wood & two children, a girl & a boy. The boy's name is Curt. Mr. Tom Beane was there, also Mr. & Mrs. Perkins. Icie Reeder and Hope also Vessie Minney were at Sylvia's when I got there. Of course we stayed with Sylvia again to-night. Wanda Leone is sick, she has such a cold.

 

Sept. 20, Monday, lovely day. Vessie Minney, & Ofa Barton came to cut corn for Sylvia to-day. Mary came over this morning. I went to Rosedale this afternoon and took old Kate over to get her shod. Mrs. Barton went with me. I helped Sylvia get dinner this morning. No, I didn't Mother helped. Ofa Barton was at Sylvia's Saturday night. Mrs. Cottrill was at our house Saturday instead of Friday. Clarence Conley was there both days. The boys stayed and shelled beans until ten o'clock.

 

Sept. 21, Tuesday. Mary took the mules over to Rosedale this morning & Father came over & got a load of our household plunder. I walked over this afternoon & brought the mules home. Ofa & Vessie cut corn again to-day for Sylvia.

 

Sept. 22, Wednesday, nice day. I took the mules over to Papa this morning and came back with him in the wagon. He took another load to-day. I walked over this afternoon and brought the mules home. (We ) Mother & I, stayed with Sylvia again last night. Lilly & Birt to-day. Uncle Billy came home to-night, or rather this evening. Vessie cut corn for Sylvia again to-day.

 

Sept. 23, Thursday. I took the mules over this morning. Father took another load to-day. Mother went over to Rosedale this morning. Mary brought the mules home this eve. Vessie worked for Sylvia again to-day. We stayed with Sylvia again last night. Mary & I are going to stay to-night. We had some watermelon to eat this eve.. Dr. Roberts was over to see Wanda Leone last Mon. She is a whole lot better now. Cleo Reip was at our house and at Sylvia's Tuesday.

 

Sept. 24, Friday, rained last night and is still raining this morning. I am taking an awful cold. I am at Sylvia's now. Mary is here also. Baby is asleep. I went to Rosedale this evening. I carried my kitten over. Raymon Perkin's baby, Mabel Louise, died this evening about five o'clock. It was sixteen mo. old. Was born May 24, 1919. I am tired to-night.

 

Sept. 25, Saturday, awfully hot day, I went over home to-day. I stopped at Raymon's a little while. I was up at Sylvia's. Mary brought the mules over to Papa this morning. He brought the last load over to-day. We are moved over to Rosedale now. I am over at home at Rosedale. Mary took the mules home this evening. I was at Raymon's baby's burial this afternoon. Dewey Mace & Ofa Barton carried my trunk upstairs for me to-day. I am just awfully tired to-night. Mother & I were over at Mr. Jim Mace's a few min. this evening to get a little milk for the cats. Arden Clark & Wilma Bonnett were married the 15th of this month. Well I wish them joy. Harley came home last night. Well I am going to bed for I am sleepy.

 

Sept. 26, Sunday, extremely hot. Mother & I were at Sunday school & preaching this morning & were at singing to-night.

 

Sept. 27, Monday. Father went over after my cow, Cutie, to-day. Mary came with him to help him. They came down Laurel & up Steer Creek. Tessie Nolder was here awhile to-night.

 

Sept. 28, Tuesday, Harley came over this morning. He brought a grist over, Mary took it back. Harley went on to Gassaway. Uncle Billy was here for dinner. Dewey Mace came up stairs and played flinch with me night. We played 3 games. I wish Mary would hurry on over home. I got my new shoes this evening.

 

Sept 29, Wednesday, forgot to say that Mother washed yesterday. Beryl Wilson was here a while yesterday. The drummer, Mr. William Lawson, was here for dinner to-day. Also Icie & Hope Reeder. Mrs. Reeder, Mrs. Frymyer & Mrs. Cook were all here awhile to-day, also, Mrs. Bitha Upton, & Lelah, also Uncle Sam

Carroll. Mother went over to Sylvia's this evening. Looks like it is going to rain.

 

Sept. 30, Thursday, rainy day. Mother came home this morning, Mary came home this evening. We were at a party to-night, at Mr. Chance Beatty's. There wasn't very many there. Just Tessie Nolder, Eddie Meadows, Dewey Mace, Orvin & Cramer Shamblin, Marvin Shock, Merel Beatty, Bid and Ethel Sands and their children, Herma & Agatha. We had a right nice time. Orvin Shamblin walked home with me & Marvin Shock with Mary & Dewey Mace with Tessie.

 

Sept. 31, Fri. rainy day. I went to Frametown in the mail hack this morning. I ate supper & dinner at Mr. Henry Ferguson's. Went up to Sutton on the 5:50 train. Went in Taxi to Hamric hotel.

 

Oct. 1, Saturday, nice day but rather cold. I took the emergency examination to-day, only had to pass on six branches. Was in the newspaper printing office. Also was to visit the jail. Was at the show to-night.

 

Oct. 2, Sunday, I went to Flat Woods in an automobile this morning, cost $1.00. Went on the train from there to Weston. Got to Uncle Albert Lawson's about noon. Aunt Allie & I went to the ladies Aid to-night at the new church. Had a nice time.

 

Oct. 3, Mon. I went to Clarksburg this morning on the street car. I got off at Hartland stop at my Aunt Icie Mitchell's. Had a jolly time.

 

Oct. 4, Tuesday, lovely day. Aunt Icie and I went up to Clarksburg and on out to the new fair ground to Stop 28, to Uncle Herman Lawson's. I like his wife, Aunt Mary, just fine. They have a little baby called Mary Evelyn. Aunt Mary and I went is to the show to-night up in the main part of town. Aunt Icie went home this evening. I am going to stay at Uncle Herman's to-night.

 

Oct. 5, Wednesday, lovely day, Aunt Mary, baby & I came to Aunt Icie's this morning. Uncle George's father came to his house this evening. I came down on the street car to Weston to-night, got here about 8 o'clock. I am going to stay at Uncle Albert's to-night.

 

Oct. 6, Thursday, beautiful day. Uncle Albert came down to the train with me and I came to Buckhannon this morn. I went to uncle Ira Lawson's on College Ave.. His son Robert, was at home on a visit. He works at Youngstown, Ohio. I never saw him before, nor Aunt Ella either. I had a fine time. I got acquainted with Miss Nada Miles, a girl here on College Ave. that my cousin, Edgar Smith is going with. I like her fine. Aunt Ella and I were out there at her home a little while. Nada and I went out to my first cousin's Mrs. Alpha Hinkle, a little while. Then we came back and Aunt Ella & I went back to her home. Nada went with us and stayed a little while.

 

Oct. 7, Friday, lovely day, Robert came with me to the flag station in South Buckhannon & I came to Sago & changed cars & came on to Abbott. I stopped at my cousin's Leet Smith at Abbott and stayed for dinner. I didn't see him as he was at work, but his wife, Jessie, took me over to Uncle Gip Smith's in their buggy. I will stay here to-night. There are no one at home except Uncle Gip, Aunt Manda, and Bertha. Hail Smith, and her two children, the two youngest ones, Dorothy & a little boy, six months old were there on a visit. Jason & his wife Geneva, and their two children, Ursel, and Verneta, were here awhile to-night.

 

Oct. 8, Sat. I went up to Uncle Mandaville Smith's this morning, Bertha went with me. There is no one at home there now, except Effie, Minnie, & Earl, & Uncle Mandaville. Bertha didn't stay long. Howard Nixon, Minnie's fellow came this morn. but left this evening. I will stay here at Uncle Mandaville's to-night. I am having a fine time.

 

Oct. 9, Sunday, lovely day. Mrs. Mint Smith, one of my cousins, came over to Uncle Mandaville's this afternoon, and Mrs. Ethel Boggs and her husband Clarence Boggs came up to see me this afternoon. Ethel is Uncle Mandaville's daughter, therefore my cousin. I came down to Uncle Gip's this evening. I came down this far with Ethel & Clarence. Earl came down with me. We had chicken for supper. Bertha & I and Earl, Minnie & Effie all went up to cousin Ira Smith's to-night. We sure did have a fine time. Ira has five children living, four boys and one girl. The girl's name is Agnes, the oldest boy's name is Ralph. I forget the rest of their names, his wife's name is Clara. I am going to stay at Uncle Mandaville's to-night.

 

Oct. 10. Monday, I came down to Uncle Gip's this morning. Bertha & I went up to the cemetery. I have a lot of relations buried there. We were in the church also. The name is Mount Olive. I was at Jason's for supper this evening. Agnes, Ralph & Bertha came over to Jason's and we all went over together. Earl and Effie came down, & Mrs. Sam Strader and three of her children, two girls and a boy came up also. My, but we did have a fine time. I am going to stay at Uncle Gip's to-night. All of our company left about eleven or eleven 30.

 

Oct. 12, Tuesday, lovely day. Bertha & I went up to Uncle Mandaville's this morning about 8:25. Earl took me over to Abbott this morning in the buggy. We stopped at Leets. I got to see him this time as he was working at home. Jessie went over to the depot with us. I came to Frenchton, my cousin Retta Skidmore met me. I ate dinner at her house, then I went to her mother's Mrs. Nevada Smith. I will stay all night here. I sure am having a fine time.

 

Oct. 13, Wednesday, I came from Frenchton to Frametown to-day. I had to change cars at Gassaway. I went to Henry Ferguson's and stayed a little while. Then I went over to Joe Twyman's. I shall stay all night here.

 

Oct. 14, Thursday, I came over to Mr. Henry Ferguson's and ate my dinner, and came home with the mail man, Mr. Nathan Shamblin. He brought me a horse. Mr. Frame brought my traveling bag down in his truck. My, but I am tired.

 

Oct. 15, Friday, nice day, I ironed some to-day. I don't feel very well. Tessie Nolder was here two or three times to-day, also Lela Upton, oh so many people come in and out that I can't mention them all.

 

Oct. 16, Saturday, nice day. I baked some pies and cake to-day. Eddie Meadows was here to-night. He is going with my sis, Mary. Dewey Mace was here also, Tessie Nolder was here too.

 

Oct. 17, Sunday, lovely day. Mary, Eddie, Dewey & Tessie all went to Frametown in Dink Brannon's car. Dan Beatty drove it. Tessie went on to visit her home folks. They wanted me to go also but my sister Lilly and her husband and two children came over to visit us, so I didn't go. I went to Sunday school. I took Garnet with me. They had class meeting after Sunday school. Mary got home about 3 o'clock. Lilly, Birt & children went home this evening. Mr. Will Carroll & his sister-in-law were here awhile to-night. We all went to young people's meeting, except father.

 

Oct. 18, Monday, lovely day, Mother & Mary went over to Sylvia's this morning. I don't know just when they will be back.

 

Oct. 19, Tuesday, Mother & I made kraut to-day, I was at Mrs. Bitha Upton's a little while also at Vinnie Turner's. Mr. Beatty & Mr. Dallas Gumm & Doctor fixed up my papers to teach the school here. I will begin next Monday. Mary came home to-day. Dewey Mace & Pearl & Bernace Shamblin were here awhile to-night. We played flinch.

 

Oct. 20, Wed. I went over to Sylvia's this morning. I rode most of the way in Uncle Will Carroll's wagon. I dug my peanuts this morning & hulled some walnuts this afternoon. Wanda Leone was with me. She sure is sweet.

 

Oct. 21, Thursday. Aunt Martha came home from Lilly's this morning. I went over to Lilly's this morning. Orel & Garnet are looking fine. They are sweet children.

 

Oct. 22, Friday, I came back over to Sylvia's about noon to-day. Lilly had chicken for breakfast this morning. I sure eat a whole lot. I hulled some more walnuts this afternoon.

 

Oct. 23, Saturday, lovely day. I stayed at Sylvia's till this evening then came over home. Aunt Martha & Uncle Billy were at Rosedale yesterday.

 

Oct. 24, Sunday, Father went over to the farm this morning the rest of us, Mother, Mary, & I, went to Sunday school. We had preaching after Sunday school. Our new preacher, Mr. Tinney, preached. He is a good talker. Dewey Mace & Eddie Meadows were here to-day. Of course Eddie would be here as he is going with my sis Mary. This afternoon, a bunch of us girls and Eddie & Mary all went up the new road as far as Mr. Charles Bourns farm and got some hickory nuts and chestnuts. The only ones that went were Ruby & Mabel Carr, Opal Twyman, Arta Turner, Mrs. Beryl Wilson myself and Mary & Eddie. We sure had a fine time. Opal & Arta were here a little while. We went to preaching to-night.

 

Oct. 25, Monday, rather cloudy day, I begin my school to-day with 41 pupils. Got along very well. Mary went over Sylvia's this morning, Father came home yesterday evening of course. I am tired to-night.

 

Oct. 26, Tuesday, am getting along all right at school.

 

Oct. 27, Wednesday, Mary came home this evening. Dewey & Eddie came over & played flinch with us to-night.

 

Oct. 28, Thursday, cloudy & chilly, rained & hailed this evening. Allie Sands was here awhile this evening. Mrs. Hawkins was here one day this week a little while. We went to speaking at the church to-night. The speaking was about good roads. There was a large crowd.

 

Oct. 29, Friday, big frost this morning, also snowed a good bit. Have 44 pupils now. Am getting along very well at school.

 

Oct. 30, Saturday, frosty morning. I ironed and cleaned my clothes to-day. Beryl Wilson was here to-day, Gay Brannon, Alice Mace, Dewey Mace, Orvin Shamblin, Eddie Meadows, and Everett Hawkins also. Oh, there are so many people coming in & out that I can't keep in count of them. Of course I don't count those that come in the store. We were at the school house to-night to a republican speech. Mr. Ash from Huntington, and a Mr. Hall spoke. I don't know where Mr. Hall is from.

 

Oct. 31, 1920 Sunday, frosty morning. We were at Sunday school this morning. We were at preaching to-night.

Nov. 2, Tuesday, rainy day. There is no school to-day, as this is the presidential election. I voted a straight Republican ticket. Father & Mother did not get to vote. There were lots of people here to-day.

 

Nov. 3, Wednesday. Nice day, I taught school to-day.

 

Nov. 4, Thursday, frosty. Mother washed to-day then she went over to Lilly's. I whipped my first pupils up here to-day. Eugene Lynch. I am not trying to keep in count of the visitors we have.

 

Nov. 5, Friday, frosty morning, we, my pupils and I, went on a hike this afternoon. I whipped three this evening. They were, Ray Snodgrass, Mirrel Beatty & William Lynch.

 

Nov. 6, Saturday, frosty morning. We worked hard to-day. Uncle Billy was here to-day. Mother was at Sylvia's last night. She brought Sylvia & Wanda Leone home with her this evening. Wanda Leone is in bed asleep now.

 

Nov. 7, Sunday, cloudy most all day. Harley came over to-day to take Sylvia home. We were at choir practice to-night. Dewey & Eddie were here after we came home.

 

Nov. 8, Mon. Nice day, but cold and cloudy, rained a little last eve. Morley Wright was here to-night awhile. I talked to him.

 

Nov. 9, Tues. rainy day. The school children were unusually troublesome to-day. Uncle Billy has bought a house in the lower end of town. Him & Aunt Martha came over to-day. They are at their new home. Mary is down there also. She is going to stay with them to-night. I am tired to-night. I am going to answer Aunt Laura Noffsinger's letter in a little while. She lives in Winnemucci, Nevada.

Nov. 11, Thursday, nice day. Oh, I forgot, Mary & I were at Mr. Hamon Nicholson's to-night a little while. We went out to preaching to-night. Rev. Workman preached. He is our district supt.. Morley Wright came home with me. We talked till after 1 o'clock. Mary & Eddie talked also.

 

Nov. 12, Friday, snowy morning. Cold day. Am taking an awful cold.

 

Nov. 13, Saturday, frosty morning. My cold is worse this morning. I ironed some to-day. I am going to write a letter to cousin Lillie Smith.

 

Nov. 14, Sun. frosty morning. We went to Sunday school & preaching this morning. Our preacher, Mr. Albert Tenney preached. Birt & Garnet were over to-day. Birt, Garnet & I went up to the graveyard. Mother, Birt, Garnet & I all went down to Uncle Billy's a little while. Then Mary & I went out to the preacher's. Birt & Garnet went home this afternoon. We went to preaching to-night. Morley Wright came home with me. Of course we talked awhile.

 

Nov. 15, Monday, snowy morning. The ground was covered with snow this morning. I took my cow to the barn. We have Aunt Julia Rider's barn rented.

 

Nov. 16, Tuesday, rainy day. I have an awful cold.

 

Nov. 17, Wednesday, snowy day, forgot to say that George Miller stayed at our house all night last night. I saw Morley Wright Monday & to-day. I got a letter from Raymond Conley yesterday evening. I ans. it to-night. This is a very cold night. I am going to bed in a little while.

 

Nov. 18, Thurs. cold day, frosty morning. We went to prayer meeting to-night. There wasn't many people there.

Nov. 20, Saturday, nice day. Forgot to say Fay Marshall was at school Thursday. Everett Collins stayed here last night. I got a letter from Aunt Icie to-day. I am going to bed in a little while.

 

Nov. 21, Sunday, lovely day, we went to Sunday school & class meeting this morning, and to young people's meeting Sun. night. I was on for select reading. Morley took his mother down to Stumptown this morning so he will not be here to-night.

Nov. 26, Friday, rainy most all day, Beryl Wilson & Bonnie Rollyson were to visit our school this evening. I hate teaching. I have some awfully bad ones in my school. Mother went over to Sylvia's this morning. (I feel kinder blue this evening.)

 

Nov. 27, Saturday, Beryl Wilson & Faye Marshall were here awhile to-night.

 

Nov. 28, Sunday, we were at Sunday school and preaching this morning. Mr. John Simmons preached. We were preaching to-night also. Mr. Rose preached the Thanksgiving service. The members of the Junior lodge were there with their emblems on. Of course Morley came home with me. Father went over to Lilly's this morning. It was almost two o'clock when Morley left. Preacher Simmons was here for dinner.

 

Nov. 29, Monday, some frost. Dr. Roberts was to visit my school this morning. He is one of the trustees. He certainly gave us a grand talk.

 

Nov. 30, Tuesday, rainy day. Forgot to say, Beryl and Faye were here a while last night. I got along fine at school to-day. Mary went over to Sylvia's this morning.

Dec. 8, Wednesday. Today is Harley's birthday. I whipped Ariel Putnam to-day. I am having a good bit of trouble in school.

 

Dec. 9, Thurs. Irene, Madeline, Paul & Ruth Wright, and Mabel Rollyson have quit coming to school. I am glad of it. Morley was down to town last night also to-night. I was at prayer meeting to-night. Fay Marshall and Beryl Wilson were here awhile to-night. Also Mrs. Hamon Nicholson and Arlou Hawkins, also Mrs. Chase Beatty, her son, John, and Mrs. Bid Sands.

 

Dec. 10, Friday, rainy day. Morley was down to-night. He & I made up.

 

December 11, Saturday, I went over to Sylvia's to-night. I rode Jumbo. Jack followed. My! but Wanda Leone is sweet. It was almost dark when I got home. Beryl and Faye were here awhile to-night, also Bernice & Ruby Carr.

 

Dec. 12, Sunday, cloudy day, we were at preaching and Sunday school this morning. Mr. Tenney preached. Mother went down to visit the Carr girls and their Aunt Jane Cutlip. I don't feel very well to-day. Eddie Meadows was here for dinner to-day. We went to preaching to-night. Morley didn't come. Of course we will never go together any more now.

Dec. 19, Sunday, snowy day, we went to Sunday school and class meeting this morning. I went home with Bernice Carr for dinner to-day. Had a fine time.

 

Dec. 20, Monday, snowy day, forgot to say, we were at choir practice last night. I get along good with my school now.

 

Dec. 21, Tuesday, cold day. I was at Uncle Sam Carroll's a little while this evening. We have so much company I don't try to keep in count of them all. We were at the church to-night at a town meeting of some kind. Pearl Shamblin & Glen Wright were married this evening some time.

 

Wed. Dec. 22, rainy day. Bonnie Rollyson was at school yesterday & to-day. Also Garland and Bernard Roberts were there. Dewey Mace gave me a lovely ring for a Christmas present this evening. And he gave Mary a bracelet.

 

Dec. 23, Thurs. rainy day. Dewey was here awhile, but that is nothing strange for he comes over every day. Morley was here a little while. We had a short talk. He ate supper with us.

 

Dec. 24, Friday. We had a small Xmas tree at school to-day. I got some presents from my pupils. A three piece manicure set from Ruth Perrine, a fountain pen from Mirrel Beatty, two handkerchiefs from William & Eugene Lynch, one handkerchief from Suzan Turner, one from Alma Snodgrass, one from Mabel Rollyson, and one from Mabel Shock. I also got a nice little testament from my Sunday school teacher, Mrs. Nettie Hawkins. Mrs. Chance Beatty & her two small children and Bertie Meadows & her little boy Rexie were at school this eve.. Also Clark Hamric.

 

Dec. 25, Saturday, Christmas day. Snow on the ground. I was at Mrs. Lucy Perrine's this morning a little while. Was also at Jim Carroll's restaurant a little while. Mother & Mary went down to Mrs. Meadows for dinner to-day.

 

Dec. 26, Sunday, We, Mary & I were at Sunday school this morning. Morley was here a little while this morning. I gave him a Christmas present and he gave me one. I gave him a cuff set and he gave me a box of candy. Claude and Beryl Wilson and Faye Marshall and Dewey Mace were all here this afternoon, of course Eddie was here. We were at choir practice to-night, rainy night.

 

Dec. 27, Monday, rainy part of the time. Bonnie Rollyson was at school to-day. She taught a lot of classes for me. Morley was at our store a little while to-night. I was at Mr. Jesse Snodgrasses for supper to-night. Alma & Ray came a piece with me. I got a New Year's card from Aunt Laura Noffsinger to-night.

Dec. 30, Thursday. Bonnie Rollyson has been at school nearly every day this week. Morley was in town again to-night.

 

Dec. 31, Friday, nice day. Bonnie was at school again to-day. I was at Bernice Carr's a few minutes this evening.

 

Jan. 1, 1921, Saturday, lovely day, although it rained last night and this morning awhile. Morley is working at the lamp black factory over here now. I suppose any one reading this will think I am crazy about him. But I don't care what they think. C?

 

Jan. 2, Sunday, nice day. We went to Sunday school this morning & to young people's meeting to-night. I forgot to say Mother, Mary & I were at the feast out at the Junior lodge hall last night. Mary went with Eddie of course & Dewey Mace took me. Orvin Shamblin & Dewey both came back home with me & stayed a good while. ha ! ha ! Orvin left first.

 

Jan. 3, Monday, frosty morning. I went home with Bernice Shamblin for supper this evening. Orvin came home with me. We have been having lots of company all the time nearly, but I don't mention them. Mrs. Marshall, & Flossie Vanburen were here a while to-night.

 

Jan. 4, Tuesday, frosty, lovely day. I had to whip three of the children to-day. was at Mr. Jim Shock's for supper to-night. Paul Stalnaker was up here a few minutes this evening to borrow a daily register of me. Well I am tired & sleepy so I will go to bed.

 

Jan. 5, Wednesday, Mr. Lynch tried to make trouble for me for whipping his boy, but he didn't get it done.

 

Jan. 6, Thursday. Cousin Clifton King and his wife came to our house to-day. To-day is their election day to elect their town officers. Mr. Ollie White is the mayor, D. D. Gumm is the recorder. We had lots of company to-day.

 

Jan. 7, Friday, rainy day. We had a spelling race to-day. Got along fine at school to-day.

 

Jan. 8, Saturday, rainy morning, Clifton and his wife left this afternoon about two o'clock. Dewey, Orvin, and Eddie were here to-night. Mr. George Miller was here for supper, also Allie Sands. Mr. George Miller is going to stay all night. I seen Morley a few min. to-day. Well I am going to bed.

 

Jan. 9, Sunday, frosty morning. We were at Sunday school this morning. I was at Mr. John Upton's this afternoon. We were at preaching to-night.

Jan. 11, Tuesday, frosty. Yesterday was Father's birthday. He was 58 yrs. old. Claude & Beryl Wilson and Faye Marshall and Dewey Mace were here awhile to-night. I went home with Arlou & Wanda Hawkins for supper this evening.

Jan. 13, Thursday, cold snowy day. Mother went up to Mrs. Icie Reeder's to help Sylvia and Wanda Leone over here. Harley has gone to Falling Rock to work. I guess they are going to move there. Their household plunder is here at our house. Mr. Joel Dobbins, and Ofa Barton brought it over. I went to prayer meeting to-night.

 

Jan. 14, Friday, rainy day. We have lots of company to-day. Dewey Mace & Orvin Shamblin were upstairs awhile to-night.

 

Jan. 15, Saturday, snowy cold day. We went out to the church to-night to a banquet given in honor of the new town officers. Ollie White is the new mayor, Dallas Gumm is recorder, John Upton, Oscar Hawkins, Edward Lynch, Shirley Turner, & Dr. L. E. Roberts are the councilmen. We had a nice time.

 

Jan. 16, Sunday, we went to Sunday school this morning. Bernice Carr was here for dinner. We had a fine time. We went to the Christian Endeavor Society to-night.

 

Jan. 17, Monday, cold day, snowed some. I am feeling awfully bad. Have such a cold.

 

Jan. 18, Tues. I went down to Mr. John E. Turner's for supper to-night. Had a nice time. Eddie & Dewey came upstairs and played flinch awhile.

 

Jan. 19, Wednesday. I went over to Mr. Ollie White's for supper to-night. I stopped at Mr. Minter Frame's a little while as I came home. Bernice & Ruby Carr and Dewey Mace were here awhile to-night.

Jan. 21, Friday, cloudy day, rained some. Uncle Billy rode (Ruby) Birt's horse, over here to-day, and I rode her home. Mother came up to the school house & told me.

 

Jan. 22, Saturday, nice day. I came home this evening, I walked. Started 15 min. till 3.

 

Jan. 23, Sunday, lovely sunshiny day. Mother, Sylvia, Wanda Leone & myself were at Sunday school & class meeting this morning. Mother, Sylvia & baby have gone home with Cora Snodgrass for dinner. We went out to the church to-night, we were expecting the preacher to preach but he didn't get home, so we didn't have preaching.

 

Jan. 24, Monday. To-day is my sister Murl's birthday. She would have been thirty years old to-day if she had lived. Dewey & Bernice Carr were here to-night and played flinch. We had a nice time.

 

Jan. 25, Tuesday, nice day, I went home with Ariel & Deward Putnam this evening. They are Mr. Charles Bourn's children so of course they live at his house. I am going to stay all night.

 

Jan. 26, Wed. nice day. I went home with Suzan Turner this evening for supper. Her father, Shirley Turner fixed my watch and I went down after it.

 

Jan. 27, Thurs. we went to prayer meeting to-night.

Feb. 1, Tues. Mary, Eddie, Dewey, Orvin and myself all went down to Bernice Carr’s to play flinch. I walked down with Dewey & Orvin both. Orvin left before the rest so I came back with Dewey. We had a nice time.

 

Feb. 2, Wed. Groundhog Day. Cloudy all day.

 

Feb. 3, Thurs. cloudy part of the time. I went over to Mr. White's a few min. this evening. I stopped a few min. at Mr. Minter Frame's.

 

Feb. 4, Friday. Frosty, cold morning. Sylvia & Wanda Leone started to Falling Rock this morning. They went horseback with the mailman. lovely day. I had several visitors at school to-day. They were; Dr. L. E. Roberts, Dan Beatty, Bonnie Rollyson, Mrs. Gay Brannon & her baby Eugene, Mrs. Lucy Perrine & her baby, Agnes, Mrs. Vinnie Turner, Mrs. Bitha Upton, Mrs. Beryl Wilson, and Dora Hewitt. We had a nice time. Some of us went on up to the new well after school this evening. I went down with John & Bessie & Dorothy Beatty, for supper this evening. They are Chance Beatty's children. I stopped at Mr. Marshall's and played flinch awhile as I came home. Clifton King was here to-night. He will be here all night.

 

Feb. 5, Saturday, rainy day. Clifton King left this morning. I seen Morley Wright to-day.

 

Feb. 6, Sunday, we went to Sunday school this morning, and to the Christian Endeavor to-night.

 

Feb. 7, Monday, rained to-day.

 

               Feb. 8, Tuesday, Bernice, & Ruby Carr came up to-night, and Orvin Shamblin, and Dewey Mace, & Eddie Meadows, and we played flinch. Mr. William Lawson, the Charleston hardware drummer is going to stay here tonight. He is a distant cousin of ours.

 

Feb. 9, Wednesday, rained some yesterday, also to-day. Birt sent the horse over after Mother to-day. Sister Lilly has a new girl baby. It was born some time to-day. Don't know just what time.

 

Feb. 10, Thurs. rained some to-day. I went to prayer meeting to-night. It is raining hard to-night. It thundered and lightened a good bit to-night. Mary & Eddie are down in the kitchen talking. I wish Mother was at home. I am anxious to see my new niece.

 

Feb. 11, Friday, snowy day. Mrs. Minnie Wright was at school to-day. Dr. L. E. Roberts, Mr. Will Carroll and Mr. James Shock, were at school this evening. We have organized literary to have up at the school house on Friday afternoons. I hope it will prove to be a success.

 

Feb. 12, Saturday, rainy, bad day. I made me a new dress to-day. Mr. Dallas Gumm was upstairs awhile to-night. Dewey and I talked a long time to-night.

 

Feb. 13, Sunday, beautiful sunshiny day. We were at Sunday school and preaching this morning. Bernice Carr was here awhile this afternoon. Dewey was here awhile also.

Feb. 17, Thursday, beautiful day.

 

Feb. 18, Friday, cold snowed a little. We are having a very good literary. There was quite a bunch there to-day. I am sleepy so I will stop writing.

 

Feb. 19, Saturday, cold day, snowed a good bit. I was summoned to go to Mr. John Moore's, the squires, on account of some of the children that I reported absent from school, to Mr. Charles Curtis, the truant officer. Dr. Roberts and Mr. Oscar Hawkins went also . We went by Perkins and down below a good piece then turned up what is called upper Two Run. I don't know how it is spelled. It sure was an awful trip. Mary, Eddie, Dewey & I and Artha King and Clark Hamrick all went up to Mr. Jud Pitsingers to a birthday party to-night. It sure was a bad snowy night. Had a very nice time at the party. There were several there.

 

Feb. 20, Sunday, snowy day. Mother came home from Lilly's yesterday evening. We went to Sunday school this morn. I went down to Shirley Turner's for dinner. I feel rather sad and down hearted to-day.

 

Feb. 21, Monday, awfully cold morning. They had their truancy case tried to-day, at Mr. Chance Beatty's. It was Cramer Shamblin that was absent. Of course I had to be there. They found him guilty, and it cost Mr. Shamblin $10.00. Mr. Charley Curtis, the truant officer, and a Mr. Moore were here for dinner.

 

Feb. 22, Washington's birthday. I had a pretty hard time with the school children to-day.

 

Feb. 23, Wednesday, still cold and snowy.

 

Feb. 24, Thursday, I was at prayer meeting to-night. Dewey came over and he and I talked awhile to-night. Of course Eddie was here to.

 

Feb. 25, Friday, rather cold. We had our literary this eve. but there wasn't very many here, so we didn't have a very good time.

 

Feb. 26, Saturday, cloudy, rained just a little. Sister Lilly calls her new baby Macel. Dewey and Eddie were here to-night. The protracted meeting began on Mill Fork to-night, with Mr. John McCumbers as the preacher.

 

Feb. 27, Sun. pretty, sunshiny day. We were at Sunday school and class meeting this morning. Father went out to Mr. Worth Perkin's this morning. Mother, Sylvia & baby, Wanda Leone, have went some place visiting. I don't know exactly where. We were at class meeting to-night.

 

Feb. 28, Monday, rather cold.

 

March 1, Tues. pretty day. I was at the church a while. They were practicing the children's song for Sunday night. Bernice, Ruby, Mabel and Ollie Carr, Mrs. Lucy Perrine & her two little children, Ruth & Agnes, Eddie and Dewey were all here a while to-night. Some of us played flinch.

 

March 2, Wednesday, cloudy day, rainy night. I don't feel very well to-night.

 

March 3, Thurs. I went to prayer meeting to-night. Mary went also. Dewey & I talked a while to-night.

 

March 4, Fri. nice day. The Doctor was up at school this afternoon and we all went on a hike. Uncle Will Carroll and Mr. Jim Shock, and Artha King were at school awhile this evening. I am going to stay at Uncle Billy Stalnaker's to-night.

 

March 5, Saturday, nice day. I ironed some to-day. Dewey and I talked awhile to-night.

 

March 6, Sunday, cloudy, rained a little. Mary & I were at Sunday school this morning. Papa went over to Mr. Everett Hawkins.

 

March 7, Monday.

March 9, I went home with Ruth Perrine for supper last night. had a nice time. We went up to Mr. Beatty's to-night to a birthday party. It was Mirrel's birthday. We had a real nice time. It rained some to-night.

 

March 10, Thursday, we went to choir practice to-night. Dewey came back with me, also came from the party with me.

 

March 11, Friday, nice day, me and a part of my school, also Mrs. Beryl Wilson & Bonnie Rollyson went up to the Mill Fork school this afternoon. Had a nice time. I went down to Mr. Willie King's for supper this eve..

 

March 12, Saturday, rainy day. We went out to the church this afternoon to practice our pieces for Easter. They had a peanut social at the Timothy Knob school house to-night. Eddie & Dewey were here to-night. Eddie gave me a ring that he made out of tubing.

 

March 13, Sunday, beautiful day. We went to Sunday school this morning. Also had preaching after Sunday school. our protracted meeting begins this morning. Mrs. Tenney & her two little girls, Alma, and Ina, are here now. Also Mrs. Hawkins, and Eddie Meadows. I was over at Mrs. Hawkins for dinner.

 

March 14, Monday, we were at meeting last night.

 

March 15, Tuesday. We were at church again last night. Dewey Mace comes home with me. I brought my school, most of it, down to church this morning. I am going to bring them down every day. Was at church to-night.

 

March 16, Wednesday, at church twice to-day.

 

March 17, Thursday, at church twice to-day. It thundered and lightened to-night, also hailed. We are having a pretty good meeting.

 

March 18, Friday, to-day is the last day of the lower school.

 

March 19, Saturday, hot day. I was at meeting this morning. Cousin Clarence Conley was here awhile to-day.

 

March 20, Sunday, we were at church last night. Dewey comes home with me every night. We went to meeting this morning. Eddie, Mary, Dewey & I and Bernice and Ollie Carr, all went to gather flowers this afternoon. We had a nice time. We went to meeting to-night. This is a lovely day.
