Jan. 2, 1925, Friday.

 

Jan. 3, Sat.

 

Jan. 4, Sun.  Mother, Mary and Alvin & father were here for dinner.  Okey, & Bernice Brannon & Ollie Carr were here this afternoon.  Ena went over to her home on a visit this afternoon.

Jan. 10, Sat. to-day is father's birthday.  He is 62 yrs. old.  I thought I was able to do my work so I paid Ena to-day and she has gone up to Mother's.

 

Jan. 11, Sun.  I am lots worse than I was.  I was awfully feverish last night.  Dewey went up to Mother's and got Ena to come back to do the work.  She stayed at Mother's last night.  Mary & Alvin were here too.  Sylvia, Wanda, Maxine & Mary were all here to-day.  Mr. Jim Marshall was here a little while this evening.

Jan. 15, Thurs.  Has been a rainy week.  Artha King & Eugenia Smith, (the preacher's daughter) were here a while to-day.  I have been pretty ill the last few days.  They have been awfully uneasy about me.  I am not well yet by a whole lot.  Don't seem to gain strength very fast.

 

Jan. 16, Fri.  Oh pshaw to-day is when Artha and the preacher's girl was here instead of yesterday.  I am so awfully forgetful.

 

Jan. 17, Sat. rained some more to-day.

 

Jan. 18, Sunday.  Mary, Alvin, & Mother were here to-day.  Ena went over home on a visit this afternoon.

 

Jan. 19, Monday. Hazel Enid is one month old to-day.

 

Jan. 20, Tues. The protracted meeting begun up in town last night.

 

Jan. 21, Wed.

 

Jan. 22, Thurs.

 

Jan. 23, Fri. We have been having a good bit of rain.

 

Jan. 24, Sat. Alvin Meadows is 2 yr. old to-day.

 

Jan. 25, Sun. Suzan Turner, Ruth, Agnes, and Regina Perrine & Virgie King were here a little while Sat. eve.  Ena went home this morn.  I think I am able to do my own work now.  Mother was here a little while this afternoon.

 

Jan. 26, Mon. rainy day.  I am washing some.  Dewey has gone up town.  Meeting is pretty good I hear.

 

Jan. 27, Tues.  Awfully cold, snowy, weather.  Harold Reeder came home with Dewey from meeting and stayed for dinner and supper.  Ena came home with him to-night.

 

Jan. 28, Wed.  Ena stayed all day till meeting time.

 

Jan. 29, Thurs.  They are having fine meeting.

 

Jan. 30, Fri.  Ena was here for supper.  Dewey & I washed to-day.  He did most of it for I was not able.  Baby is six weeks old to-day.

Feb. 1,  Sun. Pretty cold morning. Dewey went to meeting. Mary & Alvin were here to-day.

Feb. 3,  Tues. warmer than usual. Dewey has gone up town.

Feb. 7, Sat.  I washed to-day.

 

Feb. 8, Sun.  Mr. Jim Marshall was here a little while.  Father & Mother were here for dinner.  Okey and Bernice Brannon were here a while this afternoon.  Uncle Click Springston was here for supper.

 

Feb. 9, Mon. rained some to-day.

 

Feb. 10, Tues.  Mrs. Georgie Pitsinger & here little son and daughter, Herman and Mamie, Sylvia & her children, and Mrs. Pearl Wright were here a while this afternoon.

 

Feb. 11, rainy day.  Yesterday was a nice sunshiny day.  I washed to-day.  Dewey has been working every day this week.

 

Feb. 12, Thurs.  Snowed last night and is still snowing a little this morning, pretty cold day.

Feb. 15, Sunday, rainy part of the day.  Forgot to say Sylvia was here a little while Friday.  Harley was here a little while to-day.  We went up there for dinner. Mother was there also.

 

Feb. 16, Mon., nice day.  I washed to-day.

 

Feb. 17, Tues. rained some to-day.  Has turned colder this evening.  The assessor was here to-day.

Feb. 19, Thurs.

 

Feb. 20, Fri.  Yesterday Hazel Enid was two months old.  She weighed 12 lb. and 12 oz.  My but she is sweet.  I washed to-day.

 

Feb. 21, Sat.  I took an awfully bad cold.  Mother was here a while to-day.

 

Feb. 22, Sun.  Lovely day.  Eddie, Mary & Alvan came over this morning, Aunt Tuda Carroll came this morning also, Mother and Mrs. Roughner Stalnaker and her little two year old son, Roughner Jr. came down right after dinner.  Mrs. Vinnie Turner and her little son John Carroll, Mrs. Ed Lynch, her two youngest daughters, Marguerite, and Helen, and her youngest son Edward were all here this afternoon.

 

Feb. 23, Mon.  I have such a cold am hardly able to sit up.  Big electric storm this evening.

 

Feb. 24, Tues.  I am still feeling awfully bad.

 

Feb. 25, Wed. nice day.  Mother was here a little while this morning.  I am trying to wash a little for the baby to-day.

March 1, rainy day. Buster Ferrell was here a little while.

 

March 2, Monday. cold, snowy day.

 

March 3, Tues. very nice day.  I washed to-day.

 

March 4, Wed. cloudy.  I set a hen to-day.  March 4, Wed.  We, my husband & I were married 3 yrs. ago to-day.

March 6, Friday nice day.  Dewey & I were up at Mother's for dinner to-day.  Dewey had to work this afternoon so Mother helped me almost home with my baby.  We stopped at Aunt Rachel Carroll's a little while also at Bernice Brannon's and at Mr. Jim Shock's a little while.

 

Mar. 7, Sat. nice day.

 

March 8, Sunday, lovely day.  Dewey, baby & I were at Mary's to-day.  Bernice and Okey Brannon were here a little while this evening.

 

March 9, Monday, nice day.

 

March, 10, Tues.

 

March 11, Wed. forgot to say that Mother & Mrs. Beatty were here yesterday, also Maxine.  Mother colored my short coat for me.  I went up town and took a chicken to Mrs. Beatty last night.  Dewey stayed at home and took care of baby.  I washed yesterday.

 

March 12, Thurs.

 

March 13, Friday.

 

March 14, Sat.  Rained some this evening.  Dewey started to Sutton to-day at noon. He is to attend his Mother's trial.  She is to be tried for murder.  Sylvia & Harlev came down and stayed with me a while to-night.

 

March 15, Sunday, cold windy day.  Mother came down this morning and stayed with me all day.  Mr. Jim Marshall was here a little while this afternoon.  Wanda Leone Reeder came down this evening to stay all night with me.

 

Mar. 16, Mon.  Wanda came down again to-night to stay all night.

 

Mar. 17, Tues.  I washed to-day.  Wanda went home this morning but came back this evening to stay all night.

 

Mar. 18, Wed.  Rainy part of day.  Mother came down this afternoon.  Maxine came down this morning.  Dewey came home from Sutton this evening.  They pronounced his Mother crazy and are going to send her to Weston to the Asylum.

 

March 19, cold, windy day.  Dewey has gone to work.  Baby Hazel Enid is 3 mo. old to-day.  Sylvia was here a little while this morning.  They will soon have their new house done and ready to move.  I don't remember whether I wrote about them and Mr. Cam Rollyson trading or not.  They traded their property and Uncle Billy's for Mr. Rollyson's farm at the head of Barn Run.  Mr. Frank Martin bought the place where Harley lives at present so they will be our closest neighbors soon.  I got a letter, it was Dessie Schofield telling me that Bayard Dodrill is dead.  Died a few days ago.  I was sorry to hear about it.  He used to go to school with me.

March 22, Sunday.  We were up at Sylvia's for dinner to-day.  Uncle Billy and Eddie were here a little while this morning.

 

March 23, Monday.  Will Frymyer plowed our gardens to-day.  He was here for dinner.

 

March 24, Tues. nice day.  I washed.

 

March 25, Wed.

 

March 26, Thurs.  Harley begin moving to-day.

 

March 27, Fri.  I guess Harley finished moving to-day.

 

March 28, cold, bad day.

 

Mar. 29, Sun. cold and snowy.  Buster Ferrell was here a little while. 

 

Mar. 30, cold, gloomy day.

 

Mar. 31, Tues. cool and cloudy most of the day.  Mother, Mary and Alvin were here to-day.

 

April 1, Wed.

 

April 2, Thurs.  Mother and Cleo Reip were here a little while this eve.

April 5, Sun.  Dewey & I and baby Hazel were at Okey Brannon's for dinner to-day.  Mother was there a little while also.

April 7, Tues.  I washed to-day.  Sylvia was here a few min. this evening.  We have been having beautiful weather.

 

April 8, Wed.  I was over at Mary's to-day.  Stayed nearly all day.  I stopped to see Chance Beatty's youngest boy.

 

April 9, Thurs.

 

April 10, Friday, rained some to-day.

 

April 11, Sat.

 

April 12, Easter Sunday.  Dewey, baby and I were up at Mother's to-day.  Sylvia her children were there a little while.

 

April 13, Monday.  I washed to-day.

 

April 14, Tues.

 

April 15, Wed.  Dewey took our cow & heifer up Mill Fork and put them in one of C. N. Snodgrass'es fields to leave them a while till our grass gets a start.  He took them yesterday.

 

April 16, Thurs.  To-day is Dewey's birthday.  He is 26 years old.

 

April 17, Friday.  Dewey, Eddie, and Okey Brannon went gigging to-night.

 

April 18, Sat.  Beautiful day.  The boys got several fish, mostly suckers.  I am not feeling well to-day.  Dalton and Cleo Reip were here Thurs.  They brought us some flour and other stuff from Spencer.  Baby is asleep.

 

April 19, Sun. rained some to-day.  Baby Hazel is four months old to-day.  Mary, Eddie and little Alvin were here to-day.  We were over there a little while last evening.

 

April 20, Mon.  Mrs. Ethel Shamblin was here to-day.  She came this morning & stayed all day.  Mother was here a little while this afternoon.

 

April 21, Tues.  I washed to-day.  I went up to Mrs. Martin's and got some milk this evening.

April 23, Thurs.

April 24, Friday.  I was over at Vinnie Turner's a little while this evening to borrow a wallpaper book.  I took baby with me.  I was also at Mr. Nath Shamblin's a little while.  Mrs. Shamblin is sick.  Her father, Dr. Adams was there.  Dewey came over and helped me carry baby home.  We stopped at Mrs. Martin's a little while.

 

April 25, Sat. rained some to-day.  I went up to Mrs. Martin's and got some milk this evening.

 

April 26, Sun. rained to-day.  I was over at Mr. Shamblin's this morning to get some medicine of Dr. Adams for my stomach.  Buster Ferrell was here this morning.  We went over to Mr. Ellis Snodgrass'es this afternoon.  We stayed for supper.  We went up to Mary's a little while.

 

April 27, Monday, rained some to-day.  I went over to Mr. Jim Marshall's this evening to get some tomato plants Beryl Wilson gave me.  I was at Mary's a little while also.  I am feeling awfully bad.  Am having trouble with my stomach.

 

April 28, Tues.  Rainy and chilly.  I am feeling awfully bad. 

 

April 29, Wed.  I washed to-day.  Rained again.

 

April 30, Thurs.  Mother was here to-day. 

 

May 1, Fri. rained again to-day.

 

May 2, Sat.  I was up at Mrs. Martin's a few min.  Also at Vinnie Turner's after buttermilk.

 

May 3, Sun.  Very nice day, rained some this evening.  Dewey & I and baby went out to Lilly's this morning.  Had a nice time.  Birt brought me a piece on his horse.  Baby and I rode.  We stopped at Sylvia's a little while.  Sylvia wasn't there tho.

 

May 4, Monday, rained some.

 

May 5, Tues.  Rained a little.

 

May 6, Wed.  Rained a little bit.

 

May 7, Thurs.  Mrs. Martin and Ena were here a little while Tues. evening.  Mrs. Martin brought enough eggs for me to set two hens for her.  Ena came down Wed. eve and brought enough eggs to set another hen for Mrs. Martin.  I washed to-day.

 

May 8, Friday.  Nice day, frosted a little last night.

 

May 9, Sat.  Garnet & Macel were here for supper.  Lilly and all her children except Orel will be at Mother's to-night.

 

May 10, Sun.  Nice day, rained late this eve.  Lilly, Birt, and their four children, Garnet, Orel, Macel and Burl, Mother, Mary, Eddie & Alvin were all here for dinner to-day.

 

May 11,  Monday, rainy day.

 

May 12,  Tues.

 

May 13, Wed.  Forgot to say I was at Mary's last evening, also at Vinnie Turner's after buttermilk.  I washed to-day.

 

May 14, Thurs.  Uncle Jim Mace was here a little while to-day.

 

May 15, Friday.  Nice day.  I was up at Mother's to-day.  Her & me went up to Mrs. McClungs in the afternoon.  Of course baby Hazel was with me.

 

May 16, Sat.

 

May 17, Sunday. rained some last night and a little this morning.  Dewey went out to Birt's yesterday eve and he traded a watch to Birt for a stand of bees, and Birt helped him bring them home and stayed with us last night.  He went home early this morning.  Our cow, Whiteface, had a nice little heifer calf last Sunday eve. 

 

May 18, Monday.

 

May 19, Tues.  Forgot to say Mother came down yesterday and made me a nice kettle of soap.

 

May 20, Wed.  Mary and Alvin were here for dinner to-day.  My little darling baby was five months old yesterday.  She weighed 16 lb and 14 oz last Friday.  Dolly Snodgrass was here a little while this afternoon to get a mess of lettuce.

 

May 21, Thurs.  I washed to-day.  It rained a little this eve.

 

May 22, Friday.  I worked some in the garden to-day.

 

May 23, Sat.  Awfully warm day.  To-day is Arlie Maxine Reeder's birthday.  She is four years old.

 

May 24, Sun.  We were over at Mary's to-day.  They took us a car ride in their car. Mother was in the car with us part of the time.  Her and us ate dinner at Mary's.  We had to pen our chickens to-day.

 

May 25, Mon.  Forgot to say it rained awfully hard yesterday afternoon. 

 

May 26, Tues.

 

May 27, Wed.  Mabel Coonrod and Gay and Mary Norman were here yesterday afternoon a while.

 

May 28, Thurs.  I washed to-day.  To-day is sister Mary's birthday.  She is 23 years old.

 

May 29, Friday.  I ironed to-day.

 

May 30, Sat.  I was up home to-day for dinner.  Mother and I were up to the cemetery this morning.  We stopped at Oscar Hawkins a little while.  They live on the hill just below the cemetery, in what used to be the schoolhouse.

 

May 31, Sunday.  Hot day.  Mary, Eddie, & Alvin, and Mother & father were all here for dinner to-day.

 

June 1, Monday.  Very hot day.  My little darling babe is covered almost with hives.  It makes her cross.

 

June 2, Tues.  Hot day.

 

June 3, Wed.  Looks like it is going to be another hot day. 

 

June 4, Thurs.  I washed to-day.

 

June 5, Friday.  Mother, Mrs. Eva Dobbins and her two little daughters, Nella and Rachel, were here to-day for dinner.  Awfully hot day.

June 7, Sun.  I was over at Mary's a little while this morning.  I rode in their car a while.  Mary drove it.  We, Dewey, Hazel Enid & I went around to Mr. Wirt Norman's a little while this evening.

 

June 8, Monday.

June 10, Wed.  Everette, & Verlin Norman hoed corn for us to-day.  They were here for dinner.  Gay Norman and Willa Shoals were here for supper.

 

June 11, Thurs.    I washed to-day.

 

June 12, Friday, Mary and Alvin were here a little while this morning.  I was up at Mr. Jim Shock's a little while this evening, also at Rev.  Smith's a little while.

 

June 13, Sat.  Lovely day, worked some in the garden this morning. 

 

June 14, Sun.  Was at home all day.

June  18, Thurs.  I washed to-day.

June 19, Friday.  They started running tour on the new well this evening.  Dewey & Shirley Turner work together.

 

June 20, Sat.  I was over at Mary's a little while this evening.  Mother was there.  She was at my house yesterday.

 

June 21, Sun.  Hot day.  Eddie and Alvin and Mr. Jim Marshall were here a while this morning.

 

June 22, Mon.  Hazel and I went up to Mother's with Dewey when he started to work, but we didn't stay very long.

June 25, Thurs.  Rained to-day.  I think it rained yesterday also.

 

June 26, Friday.  I washed to-day, nice day.

 

June 27, Sat.  Nice day.  Mother, Lilly, Burl Herman, Macel and Garnet, and Eugenia Smith, the preacher's girl, were all here a while this evening.

 

June 28, Sunday, nice day.  Lilly and Birt and their four children and Mother and me and Hazel were all over at Mary's for dinner to-day.  It rained a little this evening.  Hazel and I took a car ride with Mary and Eddie this eve.

 

June 29, Monday.  Rained a little to-day, awfully hot.  I will have to go up town after some lard.

July 2, Thurs.

 

July 3, Friday.  Mabel & Myrla Conrad were here a while to-day.  They stayed till after supper.  Mr. Will Hewett was here, also Hattie Snodgrass, & Ruth Perrine, Everette and Verlin Norman.

 

July 4, Sat.  I was up at Mother's a while this evening.  I got some lemons and an orange of Bonnie Boggs.  I also got an ice cream cone at Jim Carroll's.

 

July 5, Sunday.  Dewey had to work to-day.  Mother was here.  We had chicken for dinner.  Luella Smith was here this afternoon.

 

July 6, Monday.  I forgot to say we had a bee swarm the 3rd of this month.  We have been having a good bit of rain this month.  Awfully hot weather.

 

July 7, Tues.

July 8, Wed.  Awfully hot, rained some.  Mother came down this afternoon and helped me finish pulling my onions.  She brought me a letter from Nessie B. Hall, a girl I write to that lives in Scotland.

 

July 9, Thurs.  Hot day.  I am feeling rather bad to-day.  I washed.

 

July 10, Friday.  Rainy afternoon.  Everette Norman brought me some apples yesterday evening.  Baby dear is asleep.

July 14, Tues.  Forgot to say that Dewey and his grandfather, Uncle Jim Mace, took some            honey from our bees.  Mother and Thelma Ferrell were here this afternoon., also Mrs. Willie Sholes, and her four children, Willa, Wilfred, Alfreda, and Charlatta Lee.  Mrs. Sholes came up to buy some honey.  We sold her four lb and a half.

 

July 15, Wed.  I washed to-day.

 

July 16, Thurs.  Hot day.  Baby & I went down to Mrs. Sholes a little while this afternoon.  It rained this evening.

 

July 17, Friday.  I ironed to-day.

 

July 18, Sat.  I was over at Mary's to-day, also stopped at Mr. Shamblin's a few min.  Mother was at Mary's.

 

July 19, Sunday.  Baby Hazel Enid is seven months old to-day.  Uncle Jim Mace was here a little while.  Dewey, baby & I went up to Mother's this afternoon.  We stopped at Mr. Lynch's a few min. and set on the porch.

 

July 20, Monday, rained some, looks like it is going to rain some more.

July 26, Sun. Dewey & I and Baby Hazel stayed at home to-day. Mr. Jim Marshall was here this afternoon.  Mr. Okey Brannon and Mr. William Sholes and Verlin Norman were here this morning to get their hair cut.

 

July 27, Monday.  Mrs. Sholes and her four children were here this afternoon.  They stayed till after supper.  Mabel and Ruby Carr were here a while this afternoon.

 

July 28, Tues.  Baby and I went over to Bertie King's this afternoon.  Mary and Alvin were there.  Ivy King came home with me and took care of Hazel Enid while I done my evening chores.  Dewey is still running tour on the well.

 

July 29, Wed.  Mother was here to-day.  I washed.  We had chicken for supper.  "Bossie" had a calf this evening.  It is a steer calf.

 

July 30, Thurs.

 

July 31, Friday.

 

August 1, Sat.  I was up at Mother's to-day.  She was out at Lilly's and didn't come home till evening.  Lilly, Birt and the children came home with her.  I got dinner at Mother's for father, Dewey and myself.  I was at Bertie King's a few min. this morning also at Mary's a few min. and at Mrs. Beatty's a few min. after milk for dinner.

 

Aug 2, Sun.  Mother, father, Mary, Alvin, Lilly, Birt, Garnet, Orel, Macel, and Burl were all here for dinner to-day.  We had a nice time.

 

Aug. 3, Mon.

 

Aug. 4, Tues.  I think yesterday was the day that Mrs. Sholes and her children were here for supper.  Their names are Willa, Wilfred, Alfreda, and Charlotta Lee. Mabel and Ruby Carr were here also a little while in the afternoon.

Aug. 6, Thurs.

 

Aug. 7, Friday.  Bernice Brannon came down this afternoon.

 

Aug. 8, Sat.  Mother and Mrs. U. S. Upton were here for dinner to-day.  Ruby and Alvin came after butter.

 

Aug. 9, Sun.  We went up to preaching this morning.  We went to the baptising right after preaching.  John Upton and two Moyers boys were baptised.  We ate dinner at Mother's.  I was at Mrs. Ferrell's a few min. also at Mary's a little while.

 

Aug. 10, Monday.  Awfully hot day.  Dewey and I went around to Mr. Norman's a little while this afternoon.

Aug. 14, Fri.  Dewey & I washed to-day.  Baby & I went down to Mrs. Sholes this afternoon.

 

Aug. 15, Sat.  Dewey, Baby & I went up to Mother's a little while to-night. 

 

Aug. 16, Sun.  Hot day.  Baby & I went up to Sylvia's on a visit to-day.  Dewey helped me part way with Hazel.  He came after us this evening.  Jess Stalnaker and his wife and six weeks old baby, Vera June, were there at Sylvia's also.

 

Aug. 17, Mon.  Orvin Shamblin and his wife, Ethel, were here for supper this evening.

 

Aug. 18, Tues.  Rained a little this afternoon.  Baby & I were over at Mary's a little while this afternoon.

 

Aug. 19, Wed.  Hot day.  Alvin and Ena Minney were here after butter this afternoon.  Mrs. Sholes was here a little while yesterday evening.  We loaned Eddie a hundred dollars last evening.  Dewey has gone to town and baby Hazel and I are sitting on the porch.  Baby is 8 mo. old to-day.

 

Aug. 20.  Thurs.

 

Aug. 21, Friday.  I washed to-day.  Mother & Mrs. Beatty were here a little while this afternoon.  Dewey, Baby & I went up town this evening.  I took a gal and a half of grapes up to Mrs. Beatty.  She gave me 75 cents for them.  I stopped in to see Bernice Brannon.  She has typhoid fever.  We were at Mother's a good bit.

 

Aug. 22, Sat.  Lester Moyers was here this evening to get his hair cut.  Morley Wright and Harold Pitsinger were here to-night to get their hair cut.

 

Aug. 23, Sun.  We are having awfully dry weather.  We were over at Mary's for dinner to-day.  Mother came down after dinner.  Ena Minney is staying with Mary.

Aug. 25, Tues.  I have an awful cold.  Gay & Mary Norman were here a while this evening.

 

Aug. 26, Wed.  Baby Hazel and I went around to Mr. Wirt Norman's a little while this afternoon.  Dewey is up town to-night and baby is in the bed.

Aug. 30, Sun.  Dewey, Baby and I went out to Birt's to-day.  Mr. Ira Minney, his wife Myrtle, and four of their children were there also.  The children's names were Rhena, Ressie, Cressie, and Renis.  We all had all the watermelon we could eat.  We stopped at Sylvia's a few min.

 

Aug. 31, Mon.  Awfully hot day.  Mother came down this morning to take care of the baby for me while I picked my beans up in the garden for my pickle beans.  It rained this afternoon.  We were glad to see the rain for it had been very dry for a good while.  We had to carry water from the well for our cows for a week.

 

Sept. 1, Tues.  I don't feel very well to-day. strung my beans for my pickle beans to-day.

 

Sept. 2, Wed.  I made my pickle beans to-day.  Dewey has gone up town. 

 

Sept. 3, Thurs.

 

Sept. 4, Friday.  I washed to-day.

 

Sept. 5, Saturday.  I went over to Mary's this afternoon, Aunt Rachel Carroll and Eva Dobbins and Mother were there.  Ena Minney is staying there.  Dr. Roberts was there to-night.  Mary gave birth to a little daughter about 5 min. to 12 o’clock to-night.  To-day is Eddie’s birthday.  He is 34 years old.  So his daughter was born on his birthday.  I stayed till after twelve o'clock.  Dewey came over and came home with me.  It was something after 1 o'clock when we got home.  My but I was tired and sleepy.

 

Sept. 6, Sunday, awfully hot day.  We were at Mary's a while this afternoon.

Sept. 9, Wed.  To-day is Mother's birthday.  She is 64 years old.

 

Sept. 10, Thurs.  Birt and Orel were here this evening.  Birt came to go fishing.  They didn't catch any fish.

 

Sept. 11.  Fri.  I washed yesterday.

 

Sept. 12, Sat.  I made a cake to-day.  Dewey, Baby, and I went up to Mother's this evening.  I went over to see Bernice Brannon a little while.  Was also up to see Mrs. Marks.  Lilly, Garnet, Macel and Burl came to Mother's this evening.

 

Sept. 13, Sunday.  Rained some last night, also to-day.  Mother, Lilly, Birt and their four children were here to-day.  We all went over to Mary's after dinner.  Dewey was sick last night and to-day.

 

Sept. 14, Monday.  Dewey, Hazel Enid and I went to Sutton this afternoon.  Eddie took us in his car.  We gave him four dollars.  We all ate supper at Mrs. Arnold's hotel.  Dewey and I went to the dentist's office and got some teeth fixed.  The dentist's name is J. Clyde McNeill.  It was between nine and ten o'clock when we got home.  I was awfully sick.  We were all worn out.

 

Sept. 15, Tues.  Dark, cloudy day.  I feel awfully bad to-day and so does Dewey.  He is working tho.  We had the baby's picture taken up at Sutton yesterday.

Sept. 19, Sat.  I was up at Mother's yesterday, was also over at Mrs. Marks.

Sept. 26, Sat.  We were up at Mother's to-night.  They had a social at the Odd Fellows lodge hall to-night.  We were there a little while.  I didn't take any box.

Oct. 1, Thurs.  I washed to-day.  Clara Perkins gave birth to a boy one day in Sept. also Mrs. Porter Dobbins.  I don't remember the date of either one.  My baby can climb up by a chair or most any thing and step around a little.  She hasn't any teeth yet.  G, but she is sweet.

 

Oct. 2, Friday.

 

Oct. 3, Sat.  It has rained a good bit this week.  It rained to-day.  Bay and Mary Norman were here this afternoon.  They brought me half a gal. of molasses.

 

Oct. 4, Sun.  We went and picked a few chestnuts to-day.  We went up to Mother's.  Mary, and her children and Mother were up at Everette Perkins and baby Hazel and I went up there also.  We all went over to Mr. Beatty's a little while then in to see Bernice Brannon a little while.  Then over to Mother's.  It rained to-day.

 

Oct. 5, Mon.  Mary's baby is a month old to-day and Lilly's baby is ten months old.  Hazel is in the bed asleep and Dewey is up town.  It is pretty chilly to-night.

Oct. 8, Thurs.  I washed to-day.  Mother and Mrs. Marks were here this afternoon.

 

Oct. 9, Friday.  Rained and snowed a little last night.

 

Oct. 10, Sat.  Cold and windy.  Mother & I and little Hazel went up to Lilly's to-day.  We rode in the car with Mirrel Newell over half the way.  I was at Cleo Reip's a little while this evening.

 

Oct. 11, Sunday.  Frosty, cold morning.  We started from Lilly's about one o'clock or a little past this afternoon.  We came out and stopped at Sylvia's a little while.  Poor old Aunt Martha is certainly pitiful looking.

 

Oct. 12, Monday.  Rainy most all day.  Mother and Mrs. Ethel Shamblin came down this afternoon and stayed with my baby and I went up to the garden and dug my peanuts and a few sweet potatoes.

 

Oct. 13, Tues.  Rained some to-day.

 

Oct. 14, Wed.  Rainy day.  Poor old Aunt Martha Stalnaker died this morning about 8 o’clock, I believe.  Dewey is helping dig her grave.  Poor woman, she certainly suffered an awful sight.  My, how lonely and dreary a day, baby & I are here alone.  Charles Bourn died last Sunday night.

 

Oct. 15, Thurs.  Rained some to-day.  Dewey, Baby & I went up to Mother's this morning.  Lilly and Garnet came over for Aunt Martha's funeral.  Sylvia, Harley and the children were there of course.  Poor old Uncle Billy he took it awfully hard.  I didn't go up to the graveyard for I didn't feel like going as I had the sick headache

last night.  Poor old Uncle Dexter Smith died the 6th of this month.  Uncle Gibson Smith has been dead a good while.

 

Oct. 16, Friday.  I forgot to say Mary, Alvin and little Margaret were at Mother's for dinner yesterday also.  I washed to-day.

 

Oct. 17, Sat.

 

Oct. 18, Sunday.  Rather cool.  Mary, Eddie and the children were here to-day.  We all went to the old Adam Moyers place up on O'Brien to get some chestnuts.  We went in Eddie's car.  Had a nice time.

 

Oct. 19, Monday.  Hazel Enid is ten months old to-day.  Rained a little.

Oct. 21, Wed.  Frosty morning.  I washed to-day.

 

Oct. 22, Thurs.  Rained and snowed some to-day.  Dark and cloudy now.

 

Oct. 23, Friday.  I was up at Mother's to-day and we made Hazel a little gingham dress.

Oct. 24, Sat.  Rained to-day.  Hazel & I were over at Mary's to-day.

 

Oct. 25, Sunday.  Rainy day.  Uncle Jim Mace was here to-day.

 

Oct. 26, Monday.  Frosty morning, beautiful day.  Mother was here this afternoon.  We went and gathered walnuts.

Oct. 28, Wed.  I washed to-day.  Rained & snowed this afternoon.

 

Oct. 29, Thurs.  Dewey begin running tour on a well up in the hollow above Mr. Ellis Snodgrass'es.

 

Oct. 30, Friday.  Snowed nearly all day.  I am sitting here by the fire with baby on my lap so can't write very good.  Dewey is on tour.

Nov. 1, Sunday.  Father and Mother were here to-day.  I don't think I wrote down in here how old Aunt Martha was when she died.  She was 72 years old.  Her birthday was the 23rd of Feb.  I think.

Nov. 3, Tues.  I was up at Judson Pitsinger's to-day. Also at father's store.

Nov. 6, Fri.  I was over at Mary's to-day, also up at Mother's a little while.

Nov. 8, Sun.  Uncle John E. Turner died at four o'clock this morning.  We were up at preaching to-day.  We ate dinner at Mother's.  Papa went out to Sylvia's.

 

Nov. 9, Mon.  Nice day.  I was at Mr. Turner's funeral to-day.  He was 83 yrs. and four hrs. old.  Mrs. Bonnie Boggs gave birth to another little daughter last night about 8 o'clock .

 

Nov. 10, Tues.  Nice day, frosty morning.  I baked a cake to-day.

 

Nov. 11, Wed.  Mother was here to-day.  I washed.  Hazel is cutting teeth now.  She has an eye tooth thro.

Nov. 14, Sat.  Hazel and I went up to the well that Dewey is working on and stayed till he quit work and came home with us.  There were several people there.  We had a chicken feast.  There was Vinnie Turner and her two children, Suzan and Carroll, Lelah Upton, Ruth Perrine, Mrs. Bucklew, Miss McQuaine, Miss Gerwig (the three last named are the lady teachers here) Dr. Moore, Ed Tygart, and Ed Lynch.  We had quite a nice time.

 

Nov. 15, Sunday.  Dewey, Hazel and I were at Mr. Ellis Snodgrass'es for dinner.  Rained this afternoon.  We were at Mary's a while.

Nov. 17, Tues.  Hazel and I were up at Mother's a little while to-day.  Also stopped at Mrs. Martin's a few min.  Father isn't a bit well now.

 

Nov. 18, Wed.  I washed to-day.  Nice day.

 

Nov. 19, Thurs.  Hazel Enid is eleven months old to-day.  She has three teeth through that I know of.  Dark, cloudy and rainy.  Baby is awfully cross now.

Nov. 22, Sunday.  Rained some to-day. Our young cow, "Bossie" is sick.  Gent Cottrill was here and doctored her.  Mary, Eddie, and their two children and Mirrel Newell and Uncle Billy Stalnaker were all here for dinner.  Ena Minney and Tom Boggs' little girl, Kathleen, were here this afternoon.

 

Nov. 23, Mon.  Mother was here this afternoon.  Gent Cottrill was here again this evening to doctor our cow.

Nov. 25, Wed.  Dark gloomy day.  Our cow died last night.  Mirrel Newell, Bish Mace, and Steward Wright buried her.  Tom Boggs brought us a thousand and 34 lb. of hay this afternoon.  Ray Snodgrass was with him.

 

Nov. 26, Thurs.  Thanksgiving day.

 

Nov. 27, Friday.  Nora Carr died to-day.  She used to be Nora Dobbins.  She married Carl (someone penned in the name Earl here /MBW) Carr.  They had a little girl named Garnet.

 

Nov. 28, Sat.  We killed our hog to-day.  Mother was here this afternoon.  Mirrel Newell and Silvin Westfall helped with the hog.

 

Nov. 29, Sun.  Dewey, Hazel and I went up to Mother's this afternoon.  Mary and her children, and Sylvia were there.

 

Nov. 30, Mon.  Nice day.  We were at Nora's funeral this morning.  Mother, Mary & her children, and Sylvia and her children were at our house for dinner.  Shirley Turner was here a few min. this morning.  We made our sausage this afternoon.  Dewey and Shirley went over to Chestnut Lick this afternoon to work on a well for The South Pen Oil Co. Ingle's are the ones drilling for the S. P.  I don't know just when Dewey will be home.

 

Dec. 1, Tues.  I fried my sausage down to-day.  Ivy King came down last night to stay with me at night while Dewey is gone.

 

Dec. 2, Wed.  Rained some to-day.  Mr. Wilbert Smith and his wife Lecta, and her son Roy Watson, are here to-night.

 

Dec. 3, Thurs.  Rained some to-day.  I got to turn my chickens out to-day as Mr. Cam Rollyson got his corn shucked.

 

Dec. 4, Fri.  I washed to-day.  Mother came down this afternoon.

 

Dec. 5, Sat.  Dewey got home to-night about two o'clock.  He got his finger burst over there where he was working.  Burl Wilson, my sister Lilly's baby is a year old to-day.

 

Dec. 6, Sun.  We were up at Mother's this afternoon, also at Mrs. Beatty's a little while.

 

Dec. 7, Monday.  We were over at Mary's a little while this afternoon.

Dec. 10, Thurs.  Lilly and Burl & Macel were here for dinner.  We went over to Mary's after dinner.  I stayed at Mary's for supper.

Dec. 13, Sun.  Rather cold.  Dewey, Hazel Enid & I and Mary, Alvin, Marguerite, and Eddie all went out to Lilly's to-day.  We went in Eddie's car.  We all stopped at Sylvia's as we came back.

 

Dec. 14, rather cold.  To-day is Sylvia's birthday.  The 9th of this month was Harley's birthday.

 

Dec. 15, Tues.  To-day is Birt's birthday.

 

Dec. 16, Wed.

 

Dec. 17, Thurs.  I washed to-day.  Mother was here for dinner.  Eddie was here after buttermilk.

 

Dec. 18, Friday.  To-day is my birthday.  I am 30 years old.  It has been pretty cold this week.

Dec. 19, Sat.  My little daughter is one year old to-day.  She has five upper teeth thro and one lower one.  She has been walking for several days.  She can talk some. 

 

Dec. 20, Sunday.  G, but I feel bad to-day.

 

Dec. 21, Monday.  Rainy most all afternoon.  Dewey, baby & I were up town this afternoon.  We were at the Dr.'s office a little while.  I have been bothered with my side the last few days and we went to Dr. Moore to see if I had appendicitis.  He said it wasn't yet.  Dewey is up town to-night.  I am sitting here by the kitchen cabinet with my baby on my lap writing.

 

Dec. 22, Tues.  Dewey, Baby & I were up to the church to a Xmas entertainment to-night.  We stopped at Mother's a little while.  Mary, Eddie & their children were there.  Rather cold.

 

Dec. 23, Wed.

 

Dec. 24, Thurs.  I baked a cake to-day.

 

Dec. 25, Friday.  Christmas day.  Rainy morning, turned to snow in evening.  Dewey, Baby & I were at Mother's for dinner to-day.  Mother, baby & I were over at Mr. Davis' a little while.

 

Dec. 26, Sat.  Cold and snowy, I washed some to-day.

 

Dec. 27, Sunday.  Awfully cold weather.

 

Dec. 28, Monday, cold.

 

Dec. 29, Tues.  Very cold.  Two of my young chickens froze to death.

 

Dec. 30, Wed.  Cold.  Shirley Turner was here a little while this morning to get Dewey to go with him over on Chestnut Lick to work for Ingles.  They started before noon.  Hattie King came over to stay with me to-night.  I washed to-day.  A hawk killed two of my young chickens to-day.  Oh, how lonely I am without my darling husband.
