Nancy Jane Atchley was born September 28, 1828 in Sevier County, Tennessee, and died April 25, 1893 in Arkansas. She married Calip (Or Caleb) Hickman on September 12, 1850 in Bradley County, Tennessee, son of Caleb Hickman and ??? Rebecca.
Notes for Nancy Jane Atchley: During the Civil War, Nancy helped the soldiers that came through the area. She would feed them and wash their clothes for them. She boiled the clothes and made the men take hot baths with lye soap because they had body lice, etc. The house that they lived in (the Parker-Hickman Homestead) became a hospital of sorts for the soldiers.
