Howard Hensley Cone, Sr. (son of Berry Hansford Cone and Irene Hickey) was born July 16, 1896 in Gaither, Arkansas, and died April 12, 1979 in Harrison, Arkansas (Boone County). He married (1) Arria Dees on April 17, 1920 in Hasty, Arkansas. He married (2) Caroline Sarah Holt Fowler.
Notes for Howard Hensley Cone, Sr.: Howard was raised in the Boone County area. Howard grew up working on a farm and was known to have cut and hauled many loads of barrel staves and ties. He later in life had jobs where he drove for Harrison Grocer Company, drove school buses, and produced many acres of crops each year. Howard enjoyed auctioning and square dance calling. "Wayne S. Is buried in the White Church Cemetery, located near Gaither, where many of his family are buried.
Howard H. Cone was a farmer, worked on the railroad, and a autioneer. He was not very good to his children or his wives. Howard lived in and around Harrison, Arkansas, most of his life. Howard Hensley Cone, Sr., age 82, of Rt. 1, Harrison, died Thursday, April 12, at the Harrison Nursing Home. He was born July 16, 1896 in Gaither, ARkansas, the son of Berry Hansford and Irene Hickey Cone. He was a farmer and a lifelong resident of Boone Cty., Ark. He was preceded in death by four sons, Ralph Howard Cone, Boyd Haskell Cone, Floyd Herman Cone, and James Allen Cone and a daughter, Joyce Renae.Survivors include his wife, Caroline Sarah Cone, Harrison; Eight sons, Harold Cone, Oklahoma City, Okla.;Kenneth Cone, Kansas City, KS.; Bill Joe Cone, Ishmal Noel Cone; J.C. Cone; Wayne S. Cone, Howard Hensley, Jr.; Donald Ray Cone; all of Harrison; Four daughters; Carolyn Faye Edwards, Evelyn Kay Milam, Brenda Gay Cone; all of Harrison; Ethel Mae Shook, of Alpena; A brother, Charlie Cone, Harrison; four sisters; Mrs. Dale James and Sybil Harp; Both of Harrison; Helen Marten, of Selah, Washington; Dane Jones, Kansas City, Mo.; Many Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 14 at Christeson Chapel with the Rev. Dale Barnett Officiating.
