Boeing Worker Killed in Wreck East of Derby. Boyd Cone, 20, of Planeview dies; two others are injured. A Planeview youth was injured Fatally, and two fellow aircraft workers escaped with minor hurts late Monday, when the car in which they were riding went out of control two blocks east of Derby on the Rose Hill Road, skidded 480 feet and overturned into a creek. Boyd Cone, 20, of 4069 Ross Parkway, was pronounced dead at the St. Joseph's Hospital. Attendants said he died of a broken neck. He was the sixth Wichitan to die in traffic accidents within 48 hours. Also injured in the smashup were Mary Dale Alley, 18, of 1211 Greenwood, who was admitted to the hospital for observation, suffering from shock and lacerations to the forarms, and the driver of the car,William Baughman, 21, of 2912 South Davidson, who was treated for a small scratch on the shoulder. Capt. Floyd Schroder, of the Sheriff's Road Patrol, said the car apparently was traveling at a rapid rate when the accident happened. Witnesses told him Cone crawled out of the wrecked auto, and appeared uninjured. He died, however, on the way to the hospital according to ambulance attendants. Baughman told Schroeder he and his companions were driving around before going to work at the Boeing plant.The Captain said the injured persons were taken to the hospital in a Gordon Ambulance. Capt. Schroeder said Baugman was being held pending the completion of the Accident investigation. Cone was born Jan. 4, 1931 at Olive, Arkansas. and came to Wichita in 1943. He was a member of the organized reserve, 380th Military Police Battalion of Wichita, and a machinist at Boeing. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Arria Dees, of the home;His father, Howard H. Cone, Harrison, Arkansas; and four brothers: Sgt. Howard H. Cone in Alaska; Corporal Ralph H. FORMER TORONTO YOUTH KILLED IN CRASH Boyd Cone, 20, of 4069 Ross Parkway, Wichita, was killed Monday, March 19, in a car accident east of Derby on the Rose Hill Road near Wichita. Two other occupants of the car were only slightly injured. Cone was apparently uninjured at the time of the accident, but died on the way to the hospital from a broken neck. Cone was the son of Mrs. Arria Dees of Wichita, , and is a nephew of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Trotten of Toronto. The family lived for several years south of Toronto and Boyd attended the Toronto grade school. Funeral services were held Saturday in Wichita and Burial was in the Toronto Cemetery.
