Josiah T. Barnes (son of William Elijah Barnes and Barbary Cerat) was born 1849 in Kentucky, and died 1888 in Chico, California (Butte County). He married Mary Elizabeth Buchanan on August 17, 1871 in Newton County, Ark., daughter of Joseph M. Buchanan and Thersie Jane "Mary" Dugan.
