The Family Tree bug has bitten me and I'm having a great time putting all the family pieces together. It can definitely be a jigsaw puzzle at times. The more I find out about my family, the more I feel complete. I read somewhere that "in order to know where you're going, you have to know where you've been".How true this is. I believe this means it helps you in your journey if you know where your roots are. I have noticed that when the whole family is working together to build their family tree it creates a closeness that is hard to describe. It's pride that creates this feeling. When a new fact is uncovered it is cause for celebration. What a great gift to pass on to your children!! For them to know of their heritage is indeed a gift.
I am looking for information on the following families: Hickman, Cone, Madison, and Rowland. Most are from the Newton County, Ark. area. Before that the Hickmans came from Sevier County and other unknown parts of Tenn. Any info. you have would be greatly appreciated.
WELL, I HAVE FINALLY DONE IT!!! As of February 8, 2002 I now live in Jasper, Arkansas. It had been harder and harder to leave here after our family reunions began in 1997. I finally said to heck with it...I'm going HOME. We live 4 miles straight up the mountain on the top. I love it. I can't describe the feeling I've had since moving here. I guess contentment would be the closet thing. As soon as I get the house squared away (which seems like is taking forever!) I will be doing more research on the family tree.
FAMILY REUNION: 2009: Looks like we will be having a reunion on the first Saturday of June, 2009. It will be at the Ozark Campgrounds. I'll update later with time, etc.

MANY thanks to J.C. Poyner for providing the information for the Richard Owen, Joseph Whitely, and John Proctor branches. It was due to J.C.'s many hours of research that I was able to put it on my homepage. Thanks again, J.C.!! Thank you Jewel (Hickman Parker) for sharing the family history with me and last but not least, Arlene Farmer for her wealth of information on the Farmer family.
