About Our Family Research

John Wilson is a very commom name, and there were numerous Wilsons in Somerset Co., MD in the eighteenth century. For 20 years, I have met brick walls trying to locate the parents of John Wilson, b. about 1792 in Somerset Co., MD. There is a John Wilson born there in 1792, with parents by the name of John Wilson and Leah McDorman, but there is no certainty that this is the person I am searching for. If it is, who are the parents of the elder John Wilson? Is my John Wilson a member of one of the Wilson families of Somerset that can be documented (I call them the Manokin Wilsons, the Annemessex Wilsons and the Barren Creek Wilsons)? Or is my John Wilson from another Wilson family, perhaps from somewhere else? Is John Wilson, caulker (in some Somerset Co. records from the late 18th-early 19th century) the man I am searching for? If the John Wilson who sold his belongings to Lazurus Windsor in the 1830s is my elder John Wilson, why did he sell his belongings, and where did he go after that? My dad said the Wilsons were from Glasgow. Can this be correct? The Wilson families mentioned above were not from Glasgow. One was from Ireland, and one from England. If somebody can help me out, I would greatly appreciate it.
