View Tree for George HutchinsonGeorge Hutchinson (b. 27 Jan 1550/51)

George Hutchinson (son of Richard Hutchinson and Margery Holcott)120 was born 27 Jan 1550/51 in England120. He married Jane Lowther on 11 Jan 1592/93120.

 Includes NotesNotes for George Hutchinson:
BIRTH: Because they were traveling together, from London to Boston in the same fleet, and because they were admitted together to the Church of Charlestown, MA (numbers 53 and 52, respectively), it is at least possible that George and Thomas Hutchinson were brothers. Winthrop Fleet, Appendix p. 76. We do NOT have any documentary evidence for this supposition or for the names of their parents.

CHRISTENING: I was unable to find a baptismal record for either Thomas or George in England. The information included here was contributed to the LDS files, rather than collected.

IMMIGRATION: George Hutchinson is mentioned in the papers of the Winthrop Fleet (1630). He is listed as "of Charlestown," "from London," "Member church 1630, number 53," and made a "Freeman 1 April 1634." Winthrop Fleet, Appendix p. 76.

MARRIAGE: George Hutchinson entered the church with his wife, Margaret, in 1632. Since none of the women are listed in the Winthrop Fleet records, it is impossible to tell whether they married in England or MA.

LAND: Terise to George Hutchinson - a "cowes Hay Lott", 13 Jan 1636. Charlestown, MA Town Records, Vol. I, p. 42. By 1638 he was in possession of ten lots of land.

RELIGION: George and his wife, Margaret, were dismissed from the Boston church on 14 Oct 1632 to go with 33 others and form, on 2 Nov 1632, a new church in Charlestown. Puritan

DEATH: Before 18 Dec 1660.

PROBATE: Will proved 18 Dec 1660. Bequests to wife, Margaret, and son Nathaniel. Pioneers of MA, p. 249.

BIOGRAPHY: George signed, on 10 Feb 1634/5, the Order of the inhabitants of Charlestown, by which they agreed tobe governed by Selectmen.
